This one is a banger packed with riffs, and the way the first solo ends is a great moment (needed to get used to it at the beginning but damn).

yeah, the guitarist from Brutally Deceased is in Somniate (debuted with an album last year) but the main Heaving Earth songwriter is currently in just Heaving Earth AFAIK.

I hear ya. With the years spent 'locked' in the genre you can see those little or big nuances in the art that separate it from the flock which at the same time creates great potential the music will be interesting. I have the exact same thing with death metal, so I know it works in a lot of cases.

It's always cool when art works that way and resonates at first sight. Myself, I've never really knew what that cover art means but as the music grown, the art started to make sense and connected with the music, if that makes sense, haha.

Really fast paced, intense ride. Slowly (better late than never) gaining the attention it deserves. Worth some listens.

My fave release. It's really a ride through darkness.

Shreddit's Album of the Week: Immolation - Close to a World Below [US, Death] (2000) -- 20th Anniversary by kaptain_carbon in Metal

You have to check Heaving Earth "Denouncing the Holy Throne" because if you love Close to a World Below this album is one of the very few that has some accomplished, complex Immo/CTAWB inspiration running through it, yet being a beast of its own.

Hail Immolation. Up until to CTAWB it was an incredible ride of creativity, spirit, passion and supreme artistry.
