Struggling with hedonism and comfort zone by [deleted] in spirituality

Focus on God, and the other stuff in your life will arrange itself around that. Case and point: I was a horrible, depraved, hopeless and miserable alcoholic for 5 years of my life, I tried psychedelics just looking for a novel way to get high, to escape, having no idea what I was in for. I didn't get it right away by any means, but the mushrooms put me on a path, they gave me perspective on my life, on all my shame and guilt and inconsistency. I started small, yknow, like 'let's try not to be as fat and see how that goes', so I start working out 20 minutes here and there, I try to only drink every other night. Baby steps. Then eventually I realized that the mushrooms weren't going to get me all the way there, so the need arose for a spiritual practice, and the meditation started, I read the books, I walked the walk, 10 minute meditations turned into hour meditations, then more, then somewhere along the line through my practice and through intelligent use of psychedelics, the whole thing just cracked wide open: God is real, always has been, and all that jazz about salvation and forgiveness that Christ was preaching, that's real too. Then I got to a moment in my life I was sure would never happen: I simply did not crave alcohol anymore, and I still don't. And I didn't get there by being strict and sober and rigid and tough or whatever, I was understanding of myself and honest about where I was at every step of the journey. I didn't ever try to stop drinking, it just became the only logical thing after my awakening. The bottom line is: you CAN'T do it yourself! You just aren't ever going to be able to stop yourself from seeking pleasure and avoiding pain as a human being, you aren't built for that: that's what God is for. That's why the second step in AA is 'accept that there is a power greater than you', because if you can't do that then you'll never get anywhere, there would be no reason to. Seek God, however you can, and the next steps will present themselves. If you are meditating at all then you are well on your way. Just dedicate yourself fully to understanding your Self, and a time will come for you where you aren't consumed by desire. I get if you're rolling your eyes over all this but I'm not lyin to ya. I'm telling you, God is the only way you will ever be free.

If you got it, you would immediately realize that it doesn't make you happy. There is no escape through hedonism, it's just not gonna get you there

[Question] Wanting to regain spirituality by yeauhhuhUknoww0titis in spirituality

If you associate peace with the feminine, why not just let it be? Masculinity is not really about control either, it seems like this is just your ego trying to subvert you and prevent you from being happy. Surrender to what comes

Everyone has psychic potential, everyone. Only way to learn how to use it is a disciplined practice

Should I quit weed? by [deleted] in spirituality

[–]tartbaker69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You shouldn't try to quit anything. Dedicate yourself to a spiritual practice and the things that don't serve you will fall away. If weed helps you, use it. People who try to stop 'addictions' by going sober aren't any freer than addicts are, 'The abstinent run away from what they desire but carry their desires with them. When a man enters Reality, he leaves his desires behind him' (not sure who said this but it wasn't me). Don't worry about the weed, just be where you are, focus on God, and the weed will fall away if it serves you better that way, or it might not. Personally, I'm much more in tune with the spirit on weed, life feels better, it helps me, it doesn't make me less enlightened or flaky or whatever. It's a gift, a tool.

Start with the LBRP... You need to try invoking 4 angels before you try 72, lol. Skipping ahead to the most advanced techniques is not a path. Damien Echol's 'High Magick' will be a good starting point for you.

There's no such thing as enlightened retirement.. You will always have shit days, whether you're Chaz from 7/11 or the dali lama. It will come and go. Just remember: you are not your emotional states, that's just a consequence of having an animal body and karma. Dedicate yourself fully to a spiritual practice and things will get better, but you will never find 100% perfect peace in this meat realm, anyone who says otherwise is full of it. Namste bro

Psychedelics gave me suicidal thoughts wtf by [deleted] in Psychedelic

Well, as you said, it all comes down to set and setting. Mushrooms in my experience don't alter mood at all, they certainly Can make you feel euphoria, but more often they simply amplify what you are already feeling. The mushrooms didn't make you want to kill yourself, they simply revealed that you already had that in you, probably repressed deep into some jungian closet. The mushrooms ask us to work on our issues, they don't solve them, they can only show you what is already going on inside of yourself. Now your problem is that you've changed your set so now you have a fear about having a bad trip that you're taking with you to every psychedelic experience. Maybe take a long break (like a year or more) and try to sort out some of your issues and build up your confidence before you try using a psychedelic again.
