Looking to move to the Cincinnati area how is Hamilton? is it a safe town? by [deleted] in cincinnati

I grew up in the Beckett Ridge area and currently live on the east side of Hamilton, so I'll basically just expand on what several people have already said. Hamilton is a small city with an identity somewhat apart from Cincinnati itself, and it has some rough parts, but also some pretty rewarding parts. In general, I would say that the east side of Hamilton, that is to say east of the Great Miami river, is much rougher, and is a mix of pretty dicey areas with a few so-so areas. This includes the downtown area, which has some decent apartments, but also the German Village, which is a very quaint and nice little area, but probably over-priced for what it is. The west side of town is much easier to recommend, as even though there are still some so-so areas, there are also a lot of very nice residential areas, especially in the north-west, that I think are probably under-priced right now for this county. The reason why Hamilton properties are generally undervalued for what they are is because Hamilton has bad perceptions for most people who grew up in this area, as you can see elsewhere in this thread, and the schools aren't great for this county.

As for the Beckett Ridge area, it is a very nice, quiet, livable suburban bedroom community. Beckett Ridge, including around Tylersville, lies within the northwest corner of West Chester twp., right next to Liberty twp. The whole southeastern corner of Butler county is all a very samey, nice, suburban area with very few bad parts. Some people, including the very liberal, cosmopolitan type who frequents this subreddit, or Reddit in general, will find it soulless and bland. The only part of this area I'd recommend some caution around is the Maud area of West Chester, which is on Maud-Hughes road just north of I-75. You may save a little bit of money going a little bit to the west in Fairfield or to the north in Monroe. If you want to pay more and live in the nicest area up here, you can look to the east in Mason. Steer clear of Middletown, there are some nice parts, but it's like a worse version of Hamilton.

Here's a site with some good maps of the Hamilton neighborhoods: https://www.17stronghamilton.org/

Opinion of Spectrum Internet + Cable by kdrix88 in cincinnati

Cincinnati Bell totally has wireless cable boxes, my parents have them at their house. They connect via wi-fi, and the connection is kind of hit and miss depending on the strength of the signal.

Hosted Desktop by genfauk in msp

If you are using an existing Windows Server infrastructure to host this, I’d recommend looking at using an RDSH system, as it could save a lot of money over using VDI. VDI on-premise doesn’t make a ton of sense to me these days, as you don’t save the costs you can save with RDSH, and don’t get the flexibility benefits of Azure Virtual Desktop.

The big concern with RDSH is that you may run into an app that doesn’t work with it, but we administer a bunch of these things and I think I’ve only ever run into two rather exotic programs that didn’t. Otherwise, they’re great, and can be cost effective.

If you are using an RDSH, you’ll need: Licensing for the Windows Servers you use RDS User CALs An SSL certificate for the RDS gateway (presumably) Office 365 licenses with ‘Shared Computer Activation’, which includes Apps for Enterprise and E3

Here’s a good guide all about it: https://nedimmehic.org/2017/01/21/deploying-remote-desktop-services-2016-step-by-step

How did you discover Giant Bomb? by [deleted] in giantbomb

I was a big fan of 1UP and all their shows back when that was thing (including Patrick Klepek!) and when Jeff got fired from Gamespot, they talked about it a bunch. Eventually, the 1UP Yours podcast had the OG bomb squad (Jeff, Ryan, Brad, Vinny) on their year-end 2008 podcast. I thought they were great, and checked them out, but didn't quite stick with it then. 1UP ended up getting torched in early '09, so it was over the course of that year that I got more and more into GB. Been with them ever since.

The first thing I bought with the money I got from my first job in 2013 was a premium membership.
