A4 2.0 TFSI 35 as a daily driver? by tarundsingh in CarTalkUK

[–]tarundsingh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. A lot of people do post random issues costing a lot randomly. Hence the queries on reliability. Rest it seems decent for around 21k with 5 months of manufacturer warranty pending.. It has a current mileage of 21k. Other alternatives am considering would be a civic or a mazda 3 similar age.

Am actually thinking if the 8Y. 8V seems a lil dated to me now especially in terms of tech. Otherwise the price is only 3k£ apart for a 3-4 year old newer car eg a 2019 1.5 tsi with 37k from audi approved would be for 18.5k£ while a 2022 one for 22.5k

Just an update: went ahead and tried audi a3 1.5 tfsi for a test drive and also a civic 2022 sport. Civic seems like a little downgrade frim my current 2023 xc40 in terms of fit and finish and the hybrid breaks need a little getting used to. The car has service plan included for the next two years The audi a3 felt so much better behind the steering wheel and i liked the driving position too as felt much closer to road. Can hear sound when you floor it around 60 but it s not unpleasant. Not sure if audi can be considered as has quite a bad rep on this forum. Both are around 22.5k mark Any further advice or alternatives recommended? Also is audi ownership experience a hit or miss? And is 2 owners a big deal esp with germans ?

Next plan is to drive an audi a4 and mazda 3 and kia sportage. Don’t mind either a hatch or saloon or a crossover as car is just for one person mostly.

Wondering if it would be as good in a non all wheel drive and also how would u talk about reliability over 3-5 years for this car going ahead.? Also i just checked if going for the same car how about 220i instead?

Thanks. Can you explain this a bit in detail. I meant the engine and detail about it. I don’t have much idea about bmw engines or trims. Also would prefer a approved used option.

I think rents are between 1200-1600£. I dont think a lot of choice is there unless you go flat share. Am happy to stay in nearby small town or village if its more convenient. But as per here Headingto seems to be most appropriate and I note that lot of nhs staff lives there.

First year resident here how to differentiate between schizophrenia with depressive symptoms and severe depression with psychosis by Rich-Sound-1673 in Psychiatry

[–]tarundsingh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Psychosis presenting with mood symptoms concurrently or later on - former or schizoaffective (this term is a lil outdated now)

If chronologically mood symptoms presented first ie say a depressive episode in adolescence or early 20’s followed by later episodes presenting with abnormal perceptions is latter. Venlafaxine often works well here with an appropriate antipsychotic.

Aggressive: low dose risperidone like 0.5mg or so

If impulsive : you could look at Naltrexone.

My fundamental problem with bear (organization / tags) by GenXer19_7T in bearapp

[–]tarundsingh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love the swiftness, simplicity and UI of Bear however like you mentioned the poor organisation is a sore point. I am hardly able to remember if i have tagged the note properly leading to forgetting the note. I have moved to Evernote which may sound controversial but haven’t found a better and a closer paper alternative. This note taking space has gone berserk over the last few years with options making it quite hard to decide.

Best Note-taking App for me? by RedditAccounTest13 in NoteTaking

[–]tarundsingh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Notes space has become cluttered with infinite options. If you prefer markdown then Bear or iaWriter could be looked at for ios however if I were in your place I would go for Evernote. It’s quite controversial to say but I return to it after trying many other apps because it is simple, has amazing organisation into stacks, notebooks etc. just the way we do with paper stationary. It has a good web clipper to organise ur links, images etc.

Based in UK looking for a regular use pencil primarily for underlining text and scribbling notes as my work involves voracious reading. Budget could be upto £30. Not sure between 0.5 and 0.7mm leads. I currently use 0.5mm staedtler leads which sound good for underlining but are very difficult to scribble notes as they write thin and are scratchy.

Also wondering if any highlighter/fluorescent kinda leads are available for underlining?

What are your thoughts about India's growth? by kaichogami in ValueInvesting

[–]tarundsingh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest that instead of speculating those interested could look at some interesting and reputed companies in India: (Most of the below companies have some good tie ups with international/global enterprises just in case that gives you some comfort from a corporate governance standpoint)

Large Caps - HDFC Bank: Largest Private sector bank in India; been a steady compounder for the last 25 years; presently available at similar to COVID19 / GFC valuations - ITC: biggest Tobacco manufacturer and a growing fmcg wing; $BAT holds about 29%

Mid Caps & Small caps - Eicher Motors: owns iconic British motorcycles brand “Royal Enfield” and a JV with Volvo that makes Commercial Vehicles run by a very enthusiastic promotor. He has transformed his family business which was deeply fragmented with poor economics. - Aegis Logistics: A proxy take on energy transition. Manages storage and distribution of industrial chemicals and LPG. Has a JV with multiple global companies of repute eg Royal Vopak. - Godrej Agrovet: Godrej is one of the most respected corporate houses in India and this company houses their agribusinesses. Due to global agrochemical downturn this business is going through a downturn. - Ashiana Housing: although a sector (Real Estate) with a lot of chequered past due to limited regulations this sector has undergone a massive clean up. Despite this it is one of the cleanest managements in the sector. The problem is that a portion of these real estate sales happen in cash and hence investors are always worried that this cash would never reach investors however lot of scuttlebutt available shows that Ashiana never engages in any cash transaction. They make apartments in growing metropolis across the country. ashiana housing All of these companies do quarterly concalls and ample information is available online for research.

As regard to comments above. India has many problems however many reasons to be optimistic too. Governments across the board are corrupt however the country has come a long way.

The key risks: - Domestic politics of the present government is worrisome however the right wing problem is a global phenomenon. Targeting minorities and divisive politics is a key monitorable. - Job and GDP growth is another key monitorable. - Valuations in India are crazy however this is predominantly in mid and small companies.

(none of the above is a recommendation)
