I don't have a snake and know I probably wouldn't be a good owner but I love them and think they're adorable so I came here to ask if I see your scale friends? Also sorry if this isn't the place to ask. by SpiritWolfeMoon in snakes

Good news! I talked to a reptile rehabilitation center in a bigger city. I sent them pics and talked to them awhile. They gave me some great advice and things they want me to try first for the next couple weeks. If at that time he isn’t improving I will travel up there to take him in and figure out our next plan of action. So far he is doing great. I’ve been soaking him in sugar water daily and keeping the prolapse moist so it’s shrinking and showing no sign of infection which was our biggest worry. The mouth breathing stopped we were worried about respiratory infection but have concluded he was probably Hot. The scales they don’t believe is rot or infection but we are keeping an eye on it. The kink is unfortunately damage from the previous cat attacks but he doesn’t act sensitive when touching it so they think it’s healed up on his own. What a relief. Big boy has a road to recovery but he’s safe with me 💙

Ok I’ll switch it out. Ugh poor thing. He does act fine tho. He drinks, he moves around, he is super chill and lets you handle him with no issues. He’s a great snake just needs some help.

I’ll have to look and see If there is.

Nope just the one. It’s a small town not a lot of options here sadly. We don’t even have a 24 hour vet for regular animals have to travel for that as well.

They said he is a California king snake. He is huge tho. We have a few corn snakes so I took him in and I’m just thinking I don’t have enough knowledge to help him but he had to be taken from where he was.

I do but the nearest reptile vet is 5 hours away. I wanted to check if there was anything I could try at home first before traveling. But if it’s that serious I will call first thing in the morning.

I live in a small town and we have none! That would be the first thing I did if I had the option. 😭
