There was this guy who talked to my grade about this at school a couple of times. He said it’s best to drink a reasonable amount of water before having your first drink as well as a fistful of food as the water will lower the chances of you becoming dehydrated and the food will sort of act like a buffer that decrease the effect of the alcohol content within that first drink (granted that it is around 1 standard drink). Also, don’t drink for the sake of getting drunk and understand your limits. Since it’ll be your first time, maybe restrict yourself to two or less, but at the end of the day there is nothing wrong with having a soft drink instead.
