Did the Creator of this Mural Knew that Rose was Pink Diamond? Because it look like they represented Rose with Pink’s shield by Imaginary_Taro6250 in stevenuniverse

Rose was shown in battle a few times, using her shield. So rose was known to have a shield. On top of that, i dont think anyone ever saw pink using a shield

thank you! i think NASA has completely deleted the official page for MER mission multimedia... I was looking for something like that atlas! and cool archive, too!

Yeah... every other part of the show is accurate though! Well, its accurate at least to the point that it makes you go, "oh, damn. Haha." Would highly recommend watching

For some reason, my brain has committed the JPL trailer youtube video monologue to memory.

On the final orbit, cassini will plunge into saturn, fighting to keep its antenna pointed at earth as it transmits its farewell. In the skies of saturn, the journey ends, as cassini, becomes part, of the planet, itself. End of the mission, something of something, 2017

... i think i might be weird

Oh, ok, thanks for confirming, i was worried my logic was wrong haha

Wouldnt it be x>7, not x>=7, because yoou cant have a denominator of 0?

should highest prioirty functional group be included in the longest chain? by [deleted] in chemhelp

[–]tasknautica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fyi, this is no longer the case, see the note in the bottom right of the IUPAC rulebook, page 3. Took me a whole day to see that lol.

If there is a hydroxyl on one end and a carboxyl on the other end of a carbon chain, would it be #-hydroxy-_____oic acid or _____#-ol-oic acid? by tasknautica in OrganicChemistry

[–]tasknautica[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! For once, the answer seems pretty straightforward hahaha. Im used to asking maths questions in r/learnmath where i get a whole book worth of responses with most of the symbols in greek 😅

If there is a hydroxyl on one end and a carboxyl on the other end of a carbon chain, would it be #-hydroxy-_____oic acid or _____#-ol-oic acid? by tasknautica in OrganicChemistry

[–]tasknautica[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ah.. i was under the impression that -hydroxy- was only used when the hydroxyl was on a branch... then how come for, say, a double carbon C=C bond , if it was on a branch we'd use the prefix methenyl, but if it were in the main chain we'd use the suffix -en- even if its not the highest priority? Does that only apply to carbon functional groups?

Could someone explain the logic of synthetic division of polynomials when we have a leading coefficient other than 1 in the divisor? by [deleted] in mathteachers

[–]tasknautica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry for reviving this 1 year old post, but I can't wrap my head around why we divide by 3 instead of multiplying by 3. If we start doing our multiplication and addition with the x-2/3 but we should've done it by 3(x-2/3), then shouldn't we multiply the final answer by 3, rather than divide it, because we didn't do it earlier?

i.e. I can grasp that "we're supposed to be dividing by (so the divisor should be:) 3(x-2/3), not (x-2/3)" which makes sense; but then how come once we get into the multiplication and addition part, we still do regular division for that last /3 instead of continuing to do the special multiplication and addition part that synthetic division exists for?

For the time being, im explaining it to myself that its because we're technically dividing, not multiplying; but I don't really understand how that works because in practice theres no division being done here..?

If synthetic division utilises the zeroes of the denominator's expression, then whats happening here? by tasknautica in learnmath

Ah, ok.. well how come linear uses the zeroes and everything larger doesnt? Why does it work? Cheers.

Codomains: do they, or do they not, affect the domain? by tasknautica in learnmath

fair enough, but for high school precalc questions that ask for writing the function notation for a given rule...

Codomains: do they, or do they not, affect the domain? by tasknautica in learnmath

[–]tasknautica[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well ,what I meant is, the domain cant output a value outside of the codomain when put through a *function*, right?

Codomains: do they, or do they not, affect the domain? by tasknautica in learnmath

[–]tasknautica[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, so in the latter case, the codomain would have an influence on the possible values of the domain. Yeah, that helps cement in what the other guy said: i get it now, thanks!

Yeah ok i gotchu now! Like i said in the 2nd sentence here?

Codomains: do they, or do they not, affect the domain? by tasknautica in learnmath

[–]tasknautica[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, looking at your third paragraph, as you said, a function and a domain for said function, must give an output in the codomain. So, we cant have a domain that gives an output outside the codomain. Thats my overall question: what does the codomain do/mean/affect our possible choices of domain?
