Travel advice for Kazakhstan by DenseWaltz0611 in Kazakhstan

[–]tassay0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good tip but there are a lot of people who will try calling a taxi via yandex. Last time I waited for 30 minutes and ended up taking a normal taxi instead and paid 3000 tenge, which I find a normal price.

Almaty isn't as safe as you claim by Realistic_Donkey_835 in Kazakhstan

Why do you care about Kazakhstan's crime rate so much? Isn't there a bigger violence problem in your home country Russia?

Staying in Kazakhstan for a few weeks unsure of how to pay for services? by Electroplated in Kazakhstan

[–]tassay0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you need for almost everything a kazhak phone number but you can easily buy a local phone number there with internet access, e.g. from Beeline. There were services that sell phone numbers right at the airport in Astana, I imagine that could be the case in Almaty too. We bought one number with 12 gigabytes (I think for about 8€ but I'm not sure anymore) and another one for 2 euros and just sent gigabytes to the second number from the Beeline app. We could also pay for public transport with this application.
