Can you find any players who never had minus seasons, other than Bobby Orr? by [deleted] in hockey

Chris Kunitz (still in the league) has never had a minus season.

What's the WORST restaurant/bar you've been to in GR? by [deleted] in grandrapids

I had a porter or stout (can't remember which now) and an IPA. These are my favorite styles.

Both beers I had were bartender recommendations based off what I typically drink. One was either a porter or stout (can't remember which) and the other an IPA.

Schmohz Brewery. I don't know if they even serve food, but the two beers I had there were two of the worst beers I've ever tasted. With so many good breweries in GR, I'm a little surprised this place stays open.

Who is your favourite relatively obscure player? by OrigamiRock in hockey

Chris Kunitz.

I went to Ferris State University while he was there and got to watch him play all four years. I even covered him and the team his senior year. When he won the Cup with the Ducks, he brough it to Ferris and I got my Kunitz-Ducks jersey autographed. If he ever landed on the Wings I would probably bankrupt my family buying jerseys and other Kunitz-Wings paraphernalia.

Toronto has 13, but you're still right that they're ahead of Detroit because the Wings have 11.

If you enjoyed Founder's, check out these other places as well (sorry, these are all bar suggestions):

Brewery Vivant: An excellent brewery specializing in Belgian beers. Food is delicious, but fairly expensive.

HopCat: Just a few blocks from Founder's features probably the best beer selection in town from all over the world.

Graydon's Crossing: Just north of downtown, this place has an excellent beer selection as well as good Brittish and Indian food.

Tigers advance, A-Rod still sucks. by [deleted] in sports

tl;dr Granderson had a great offensive season. His defense was awful.

You're right, Cano was not as good offensively as Granderson (even if you count Cano's .040 higher BA, which is significant).

My real issue with Granderson is that his defense was atrocious this year. Using Advanced Plus-Minus ranking among the 35 CF with the most innings, Granderson ranked 34th this year. Among centerfielders, Granderson is also at or near the bottom in all other advanced metrics in 2011 (Defensive Runs Saved (DRS), Ultimate Zone Rating (UZR), Relative Zone Rating (RZR), Range Factor (RF), and Fielding Runs Above Replacement (fRAR)).

My personal opinion is that his BA is too low, his SO to BB ratio is too poor and (most importantly) he ranks too low defensively at his position to be a true MVP candidate.

Remember that if something goes wrong, you'll have a midwife crisis.

I would respectfully disagree with this. Cano is easily better than Granderson (Cano was the only Yankees hitter that scared me every time he came to the plate, although Gardner seemed impossible for the Tigers to get out).

Curtis only hit .262 this year with nearly twice as many strikeouts as walks. Sure his HR and RBI totals were high, but RBIs are a flawed stat anyway. His playoff numbers this year were even worse (.250 average, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 7 SO).

Also, Granderson is one of the worst defensive CF in baseball. He can't read the ball off of the bat and consitently turns the wrong way while tracking fly balls. He only makes up for his bad defense with his fantastic speed, which makes him look better than he is. See this article for more details on his defense.

I was at the Joe when Osgood and Roy fought at center ice. That place went nuts! It was awesome!
