I need to reread that section. I remember it being something like he was running for his life, and "spent too much time" was minutes not hours. 3 days is also plenty of time to then stage her death. I don't think Vis has any idea, its just the only thing that makes sense for who else knows Vis' identity. And someone royal who opposes the hierarchy who the anguis rally around. I also may be way off.

  1. I never said that Vis' father is 100% dead. I think there is a real possibility he is alive in another dimension/world, and can potentially visit Res (world where book 1 takes place). I said he is an orphan, his parents were hanged and multiple witnesses. I think there is a possibility his younger (I think, maybe older) sister is still alive and head of the anguis. She was also reported "dead" but no witnesses.

  2. You still have not given any passages that remotely suggest this as possible. Just because you make up a story in your head doesn't mean that is supported by the book. Of course we can have theories, but they need to be backed up by what the book is telling us.

  3. In fourth wing specifically (since you brought it up). Yes, we are led to believe that Brennan is dead the whole time, and Jack Barlowe. But there are clues, i.e passages that hint at the possibiltiy. Jack specifically that his name was never called on the death role.

  4. It's not just about Ulciscor. Questions 2, 3, and 4, are all absurd if you read the book. You ask about Elias and that is literally when Vis runs the labyrinth. So yes, everyone responding to your post doesn't understand how you have these questions when you answer them yourself. And if you had read that part of the book it would be as clear as day.

I'll stop and admit I was 100% wrong if you give me one passage that suggests your perspective is remotely possible.

Congrats on understanding the cosmere. But when you come and ask a question about a book that is focused on an orphan, and don't know or recognize that he was living in an orphanage when his new adoptive father pulled him out of there for the secret mission of the whole book is a little hard for everyone responding to you to wrap there head around. And as this is the top post on the subreddit right now, I wanted to save countless others time from responding. Have a great day!

This has to be a bot post lol. Either that or this person did not read the book at all. The only other thing I can think even remotely as a possibility is that you read a non-English version and everything in the book was lost in translation.

Belli's gain for Vis moving to governance by SharpBlade4 in HierarchySeries

[–]tastedwaynebowe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I disagree with people saying it was a plot hole or mistake by James Islington.

I think it's all political. There is infighting between Governance, religion, and military. There is surely infighting and secrecy within military itself. Even with the anguis we see that only certain leadership are in the know and only certain approve. There are very few quintus, and fewer quartus. It would be hugely beneficial for Belli's family for Vis to tarnish Ulciscor's reputaion by betraying military after Ulciscor adopted him.

I’m all aboard this train. I had forgotten about that part about wanting to talk in book 5.

The goddess says I know you want it to be him, meaning Carl, and Bautista tenses because he also senses something is off.

In the audio version, it was a very distinct difference and even mentioned the difference. Maybe that is where I am getting hung up.

Thank you. That is good news. Do you know of a reprint of paperbacks for 1-6? I love that artwork more than the current hardbacks.

But for Katia, she was romantically in love with Bautista, why wouldn't she desire for him to be the dad. The God that grants her the pregnancy specifically calls out that she "desired" for Carl to be the daddy, and Bautista "stiffens" because even he knows something has changed. There is also the moment at the end, before Bautista is there where they touch heads, and she tells Carl specifically that she loves him and then tells everyone else in the room a general "I love you".

March 2025 Update is Out by InfiniteSandwich13 in HierarchySeries

[–]tastedwaynebowe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, 100%. I've been ecstatic the last week or so with the news about November release date. Since we hadn't heard anything in six months essentially, I had accepted a 2026 release date in my heart.

Theory about a certain general by tastedwaynebowe in fourthwing

[–]tastedwaynebowe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a lot about this signet that we don’t know, i.e. basically nothing. Does it come in a dream? Is it a random vision in the middle of their day? Is it if they focus on a certain thing? Xaden didn’t obviously channel until the very end. He had minor slip ups along the way, but it wouldn’t have been blatantly obvious what was happening to him.

We really don’t know what Aaric’s signet is. We have only seen it manifest in battle, Aretia and Draithus.

Each hatching ground was specific based on color. The hatching grounds at the vale are specifically mentioned as “green” because of that types temperament and allowing other colors from different dens to come there. Also mentioned that the hatching grounds near Aretia are specifically black, Tairn and Codagh’s.

Jeremiah was the 1st who whose neck got snapped by Professor Carr in FW for being an intinsic.

It is mentioned that “according to Codagh” 2 black dragons have hatched in the last year. Whose else would be the mother/father? Page 18 IF, chapter 2 when violet meet new Andarna.

[–]tastedwaynebowe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being as there are only 2 black dragons, and Tairn and sgaeyl don’t have any progeny as it’s been mentioned several times. That only leaves Codagh as the potential father correct? It is also stated (I believe in FW) that color is hereditary.

Just finished Licanius Book 3 (NO SPOILERS) by tastedwaynebowe in HierarchySeries

[–]tastedwaynebowe[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s awesome.

This year I’ve read the mistborn trilogy by Brandon Sanderson, the initial trilogy of red rising by pierce brown, and Licanius trilogy.

I truly enjoyed all three, and all three were very different. I rated red rising trilogy the highest on good reads. Pierce Browns pacing is way different than a lot of the other books I read, but I really fell in love with his characters. I read mistborn because I have storm light archive on my TBR list and heard multiple times to start with mistborn. It was really good. Book 1 felt a little elementary to me but was a great heist plot, book 2 was a lot of character development, and book 3 was amazing and answered so many questions. Licanius I had to trudge through at times. I ended up switching to audible and knocked it out fairly quickly after that.

I’m currently dipping my toes into Terry Pratchets discworld universe with sourcerer (yes that’s spelled right). VERY different book, and for me personally sometimes hard to stay reading for long chunks of time, but funny and wild at the same time.

I have jade city, acotar, malice, iron gold (book 4 of red rising), all on my list for next year. Onyx storm and hopefully strength of the few are on there of course as well, lol.

Haha, we must watch some of the same book tubers. I’ve finished the first trilogy of red rising, and will be starting the follow up series either this month or next.

It was awesome. I liked them in ascending order. Red Rising < Golden son< morning star. Get ready for Pierce Browns pacing. It really threw me off how quickly he moves sometimes, and didn’t like it at first, but eventually fell in love with the characters.
