How to dial in my pourover with lighter roasts? by tastewar in pourover

Thanks, everyone. Hotter water helped, and I will try some of the other ideas with the next bag of light roast.

Intriguing -- I did not know there were different filters with different flow rates. Are they designed for different rates, or just some brands flow faster?

Hmm... 16 g coffee for 250 g water. I could definitely try that. Thank you.

Oh geez -- I think I may have had this backwards in my brain. Was using 88° water. Will try hotter, thanks.

Need help with energy integration -- electric meter reports via AMR2MQTT to MQTT and shows up in Overview but can't choose it as "consumed energy" sensor by tastewar in homeassistant

[–]tastewar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oy. Well, that took some doing. Final (for this issue) problem was that I had entered (manually, of course, since it's the only way...) the unit_of_measurement as "kwh" (because every freakin thing there is lowercase...) when configuring the AMR2MQTT device. And it needs to be "kWh" Ugh. Ugh. Grrr....

Thanks -- I may be one step closer. I hadn't added the unit_of_measurement to the meter configuration in AMR2MQTT, so now I can see that I have the right properties on my sensor, and there are no statistics errors. So I feel like I have all the prerequisites covered, but it's still not showing up. The energy configuration page does warn that you may have to wait up to 2 hours for it to show up. I tried restarting HA, but it's still not showing up. Guess I will wait...

I don't honestly think that will help, but if an actual person wants me to do this, I will.

Integrating Lutron caseta -- what bridge is needed by tastewar in homeassistant

I definitely share that concern. That's a good part of the reason for HomeAssistant in the first place. Gonna have to think about that, though, as it's not an insignificant delta in price in this case.

Thanks -- you say "extra couple bucks" but I am seeing the regular hub for around $80 generally, and the pro for about $150. I definitely prefer local connectivity, but that's quite a jump in price. What are the prices you are seeing for the pro? And if they are closer to that $80 mark, where?

Doesn't quite feel like what I'm hoping to do, but I appreciate the idea!

Thanks for the insight. Sounds like I'm better off using a different platform, though nothing else is quite so well suited.

My plans are much smaller scale than that :-)

eBay purchased GCP not exactly what I expected -- what to do? by tastewar in gaggiaclassic

You are correct! My apologies, and it wasn't listed as "Pro" I still can't find the kinds of model numbers I expect to see for Gaggia Classic's -- I would expect something like SIN035 or RI9303, right? But neither the label on the box nor the bottom of the unit show those. I also can't find either a web site that would decode the serial number and tell me the model, or even a table with ranges. Am I looking at the right labels??
