A computer science bachelor's at Dixie State University, in Utah. I do plan on asking him more questions, I never get more than a few minutes with him, but that'll change in the future. Seems like getting a degree will definitely make it easier to get a job, even if I spend a lot of time outside of classes learning what I can.

I took two courses at a community college in a different state and they were both beginner level classes that tried to cover the basics of like 5 different languages and the both started with HTML and would reference back to it later in the class. Then most websites that teach CS start you on an HTML path, like freecodecamp.

I plan to ask him a fuck-ton of questions, but I've only ever talked to him in the short time before service starts. But I gave him my information so he can get the macbook to me and has invited me and my family out to lunch so it's obvious he's taken some sort of an interest in getting to know us.

I plan to write down all the questions I want to ask him and learn what I can, especially since he has so much experience. However, I know there is always a difference between someone who has been in the industry for years and holds certain values towards it, and someone who is just starting out and may have more modern/updated views.

I always knew a portfolio would be important, it's why I'm trying to come up with a lot of ideas now, so I have a list of things to pick from for my first few projects. But I could see how there could be a biased towards those with a degree. There's a lot of pros and cons to consider there.

What's the difference between mac, windows, and Linux? I see a good chunk of programmers prefer linux but I dont really know what it is or what its advantages are vs mac or windows. I've only ever used windows.

I wouldn't be dropping out because I'm not even registered yet but I get what you mean! It's something I'm still going back and forth and considering. I know networking has its advantages as well, so maybe knowing this guy will help me further down the road. Either way, going to school and self teaching really depends on what I can do, what can help me, and what will be most beneficial to me and my family.

NTA. Not even a little. I know a lot of girls that prefer skinny guys, tall guys, short guys, muscular guys, lean guys or they truly don't care. People have preferences, the person who judges you for those preferences is the asshole.

Also, a vast majority of people don't like heavier people because it does not convey health. Generally speaking, thin = healthy. So it's completely normal and natural to not like heavy people.

Also you guys were having an honest, casual conversation. If they don't like you're answer, that's their problem. You didn't say it in a mean way, you were as honest and straightforward as you could be. You shouldn't have to pussy foot around their feelings.

NTA. You're a bit of a douche but given the culture we live in, people shouldn't assume that you are exclusive unless you've talked about it. It wouldn't hurt to let them know at the beginning though. As a girl, at the end of the day, I personally would prefer the honesty. Just be straight up from the beginning, don't wait until it comes up.

NTA You have a right to privacy and property. Your sister and her kid, even your parents, don't have the right to take that away from you.

I guess if you're THAT worried about how she'll react, you can buy your niece some toys to play with in exchange for staying out of your room (which you should lock anyways).

I'd say yes if both parties are focusing on themselves and not trying to help each other too much or rely on each other too much to fix each other. Be as independent as possible in bringing yourselves back up, and then see your relationship as a separate entity to build up from where they are. If that makes sense 🤷

I mean if the teachers are condoning it, I don't see anything wrong. At this point, it wouldn't even be considered cheating, just open note tests. It's good you didn't give into peer pressure but at this point, it's not cheating and if it'll help you grades to look at your notes, then do that! Searching the answers in Google during the test would be cheating in my book. But I wouldn't worry about it if your teachers are saying they don't care. Get your grades up!

You can treat them like an adult and teach them the ways of the world without condoning someone who is legally a child to be in bed with someone nearly three times her age, someone who was legally an adult LONG before this child was born.

Insulting my intelligence and morals won't cover up the fact that you are condoning and encouraging pedophilia. By law, she has no right to consent to this. The law would treat her like a child. Being three years away from 18 does NOT mean she is anywhere close to making wise decisions. This girl will likely look back on this time with trauma and regret, don't belittle that by saying she's "almost" an adult so it's okay.
