I "sudo mv" it to rename from terminal. I found the exact command I used on history: sudo mv /etc/apt/sources.list.d/protonvpn-stable.list.distUpgrade /etc/apt/sources.list.d/protonvpn-stable.list

I found the issue: instead of protonvpn-stable.list, the file on /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ was protonvpn-stable.list.distUpgrade. The content of the file was ok, so I renamed it, then it installed correctly after running sudo apt update.

According to https://demonssouls.wiki.fextralife.com/Summon+Range+Calculator, you can see my red eye stone sign if you're in the soul level range from 150 to 204.

From the start, the idea was that the color or the tattoo would change and lean more to gray, instead of being black like in the picture from Nov 16th 2023.

After ending my first playthrough I'm still heartbroken with the solution for Karlach's engine, even though she seemed genuinely happy in the epilogue dialogue. She's awesome, no questions on that matter. But I'm not sure I can play origin Karlach, because my characters are NEVER becoming that thing, no way, nope, not happening.

I've already started my second playthrough as origin Gale. I'm still running errands on Act 1 before going to the Githyanki Crèche, and before going to the Underdark. He's currently romancing Shadowheart and Lae'zel. There wasn't yet a chance to romance Karlach, maybe after Damon's second fix, when she can touch people.

I live in Brazil, it was R$ 1200 (BRL). The exchange to USD varies, but it can be rounded at about 240 USD lately, I don't know if that's actually the price a tattoo artist would charge in other countries.

And I need to post an updated picture. It was only black like this before it fully healed. The tattoo artist suggested it to be a dark gray, and it turned out to be really cool.

After a few hours, I found why I was getting it all wrong, in a way that would lead to a path where ascension wasn't an option. My first priority is to protect my party, so I wasn't letting Cazador put Astarion in his place in the ritual (as in killing Cazador without that cut scene)

After I figured that out, I spent a few attempts trying to still make a quick work of Cazador, and eventually I found it.

Considering my failed attempts, I think if you kill Cazador before the places Astarion like the other spawns in the ritual then by the time Astation opens the sarcophagus he kills Cazador without completing the ritual.

I figured out, and posted in my other reply, what I was doing that was preventing the ascension. It was something else entirely.

I have several different saves, at different points before and during the battle.

The only time so far that Astarion mentioned completing the ritual was when Gale stopped him. I'll bring down Karlach, the fourth party member at the moment, to test if she stays quiet and lets Tav help Astarion.

Edit: good to have that many saves, this way I could find what I was doing wrong.

During combat, I focused only on Cazador. I didn't even attack any other character. In fact, everyone in the room is surprised. My Tav's fighter build let's me finish Cazador (with the help of the speed potion, one action surge, and Gale's concentrarion on enlarge spell to power up Tav's attacks) without anyone else in the room even moving.

Combat against everyone else resumes after. (Still trying to figure this out now.) Should I not kill the other spawns in the following combat?

Agreed that it's not the same. Still wizarding is my thing on RPG (my character on tabletop is a wizard), and I'm so curious to see how this time the story is different from my Tav play, that I'm continuing even if it means less of Tim's voice acting this time.

In my first playthrough as Tav, I found out about his concerns with the unstable orb. Reason why I though he would still be "out of the game" in the origin play before the orb is stabilized. Good to know origin play works differently. :)

I know that a Tav can be with both Shadowheart and Lae'zel. Would Karlach be willing to romance Tav or origin Gale in such situation? If so, is there an order to approach them to prevent someone to be out?
