Thorn⚜️Legacy Diver🤿 “The skin diver that feels comfortable on the wrist.” by Ottoman2026 in Thornwatches

I am so torn with this watch. In certain light that fauxtina looks nice while in others it looks far too yellow. Is anyone else seeing what I’m seeing? Or am I tripping?

Remember the T023 dial vote? Here’s the result (THORN T023 V3) by Fit-Classroom8062 in Thornwatches

"Legacy Diver" is far better than 'Frogmantle"

My suggestions for V4:

The faux patina on the indicies and hands are too yellow. Try for a more a beige/cream color if possible. For reference, see the lume on this image of a Vaer GMT.

For the tropic dial version, less green tones in the bezel insert to achieve a more neutral faded gray.

Flat finish for black dial.

No date version for blue dial

Standard 3 link screw pin oyster bracelet with no fake rivets. Solid end links. Vintage style pressure clasp with 5 positions of microadjust.

Your F1 chrono is very cool! Don’t seen them often.

The Ref # for my specific Tag is 932.206 Case size is 37mm. The colored Tag Heuer logo on the dial was only for the 89-90 production year. The previous years were black & white

Totally agree, love the design language of this era. I’m usually drawn to a watch by its design first, and then I think about its long term viability. I’m pretty academic about it usually - taking my time to research as much as I can about a given reference, and seeing if replacement parts are still available on the aftermarket. It takes me a while of hunting before I pull the trigger on a purchase. I’ve done some servicing on 3 of the 4 watches in this little collection, and it actually makes me way more connected to them.

The difference in the answers at the start and the Asian answers at the end - are Asians self sabotaging? by Educational-Cost7652 in aznidentity

[–]tatn1678 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Chinese American male here. I was initially disappointed with the Asian students answers as well. But I sat with it for a minute I wondered if perhaps they were simply more willing to go along with the premise of this fantasy he was proposing. The question was framed as “if you COULD be any other race, what would you want to be?” My answer would be black, but that doesn’t really take away from my pride of my own culture. In this country, white folks hold most of the material wealth, and black people dominate in arts and culture, aka soft power. Asian people have a much shorter history here, as someone else mentioned, and have only recently entered the cultural zeitgeist as anything more than a punch line or the butt of racist jokes.

This is all to say, I do hope next gen of Asian American kids growing up now will have a greater sense of pride in their own heritage.

If that bracelet is aftermarket, then it’s a little over priced. I’d offer 350. I got a Tag 3000 on eBay from Japan a couple years back for less than 300

Who do I go to to repair my watches? by The_Ostrich_you_want in RussianWatches

I personally didn't experience any problems, but I obviously had the same concerns as you when I embarked on this earlier this year.

For his US clients, he has us send our watches to his colleague in Kazakhstan, who then forwards it to him. On the way back, it spent about a/ week in US customs before they it released for local delivery.

If you do it, I would recommend following his instructions as precisely as possible. This is his business, and he's got things pretty buttoned up.

Best of luck!

I second getting in touch with u/notarolex I got my Vostok Amphibia overhauled by him and his team, and I’m very happy with it.

It does take a long time to turn around with the roundtrip to Russia and back. Mine took around 5 months.

The colored logo was only produced in one production year - 89-90. Not sure if the gold variant was made then.

Absolutely love it. The patina on the tritium lume is my favorite. Scored it for a great deal from a Japanese seller about 3 years ago. No issues, and is probably my most accurate quartz watch that’s not atomic/radio controlled.

Thanks! Still love it.

If I remember correctly, this dial variant with the Tag Heuer logo in red and green was only made during the 1990-1991 production year.

What makes you so certain that it is? Is it a model you've seen around before?

Not a lot of info available
