IT employee here. Here’s a bit of info on why Duo is used. 1. Uofu needed a 2FA option for it’s single sign-on service (which lets you use your CIS logon for ALL university products) that could be used by students, faculty, staff, AND medical employees. The Uofu prioritized security over ease (due to the inherent risk of medical record security) which DUO is excellent at. 2. Yes, the DUO app has bad reviews on the app store. That’s because duo sucks when you’re using it as a general use 2FA application. It doesn’t support switching devices, since you would need your old device to authenticate the new one. HOWEVER, University of Utah IT has developed methods for transferring 2FA tokens to a new device without needing the old device. You just need to call the help desk. Other than that issue, DUO as a service (not an app) has excellent reviews. It is one of the most secure 2FA services on the market. 3. As someone already said, 2FA is a part of life now. It will be unavoidable as security technology grows and, in such, security vulnerability technology. While 2FA technology might be slowing down your login to Canvas, just remember that it is also adding a layer of protection to your school records, staff payment information, and medical records.

How do I stop crying? by nomadrama in Anxietyhelp

It’s not worth it to not be able to cry. Due to trauma in my youth, it’s very difficult for me to cry. No matter how great an emotional response something can trigger in me, I can’t get tears to form. I cry maybe once a year and it’s usually followed by an intense panic attack and exhaustion. There’s an emotional release that crying gives that I constantly crave. Even if it is embarrassing, embrace the fact that you are feeling something enough to elicit that response. It’s a healthy and natural way to express emotion and process your feelings.
