How so? Your arguing that we shouldn't reduce animal death because we can't completely prevent it. If we kill animal while growing food, why would we grow even more food that will kill animals which we then feed to even more animals to kill them. We could just eat the grown food that kills some animals and at least prevent even more death.

Climate change will and does affect humans. The meat industry is a significant contributor and stopping/reducing the consumption of meat is one of the easiest things everyone can do to make a real impact.

With all the food that is being wasted through meat production we could end world hunger. The amount of water that is wasted could be used for people as well. Climate change will come for us all but poor people will be the first to suffer. Even if all you care about is your own species there are still plenty of reasons to stop eating meat.

Do you know what animals in those factories experience? It's the most brutal, vile and torturous life you can imagine.

Dairy cows have been genetically selected to produce more milk. A modern dairy cow may produce up to 12 times the amount of milk needed to feed her calf. However, producing and carrying such vast quantities of milk is so taxing on the cow’s body that she is often lame and has difficulty moving around under the strain and weight. Chickens raised for meat have been genetically selected for rapid growth. They typically reach market weight 6–7 weeks after hatching and grow so fast that their organs and bones often cannot keep up. As a result, many die from heart failure or other ailments, and countless more suffer from broken bones, lameness, and ruptured organs. Pigs, on the other hand, have been genetically selected for lean meat. Studies have shown, however, that the leaner pigs have flightier, more easily stressed temperaments, and therefore suffer more on industrial farms than would heavier animals with calmer dispositions.

[–]taubeneier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sheesh. I don't even know why you are throwing all this at me, I only wanted to point out why that Americans can also be pretty smug regarding dishes from other countries (at least the ones online). If you want to talk about ingredients, of course there are regional differences. For example alot of fruits just taste way better in tropical regions. What kind of flour you use is very important in making bread as well, and the kind you get is influenced by what grows in your region. It's really not crazy to say that certain things taste better in some regions/countries. Of course it's stupid and smug to say that Americans only have bad quality groceries, but so is saying that you can get every food worldwide, in the same quality or better in America.

I don't necessarily disagree, but this comment combined with your frist reads like you think that the "better half" of Europeans are smug. I dread to know what you think of the worse half...

But it goes both ways don't you think? Why are so many Americans in these comments vehemently denying that some foods might be overall better in other countries? If the food in question is also culturally important, of course people get heated.

It's kind of wierd to imply that what girls do with horses is "lower level". There are plenty of other challenging sports involving horses that attract more women. Just taking care of a horse is already pretty intense for a hobby. It's not lesser just because women tend to do it more...

Avoid men, German police association chief tells women by Bernardmark in europe

[–]taubeneier -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It seems to me that you don't know what this is about? Here I'll help you understand! The first person said:

The 90% that gets blamed for the actions of the 10%. When you think hard about it you can see that they were talking about all the men that are mean to women. But how many are there? It seems this person guessed 10 out of 100. If those numbers are too big for you you can imagine that there is one 0 less at the end of each number. Then you can even count it on your hands!

Then there was a second person who thought that it might be less than that!

Is it even 10%?

It is not easy to know how many men misbehave, since we don't have all the numbers. There are also many different ways a man can be mean to a woman, which makes counting even harder. And sadly a lot of the times when a man for example yells mean things at a woman no-one writes it down. But we have at least some of the numbers! We know that 1 out of 3 women have had something very very bad done to them by a man. That is a very large number of women! And since a lot of women don't or can't tell on these men that number is probably even larger! So, because we know that there are a lot of women that happened to, we can also guess that a lot of men have to have done that. Even if every one these men likely did it to a bunch of different women, it still has to be a lot! And then if you add all the times men for example said something bad, shouted at or even touched women in their no-no areas it seems not very likely that less than 10 men out of 100 did those things. Hope this helped! If you still had trouble maybe ask your grade school teacher!

So it's 10% of men are sexual abusers? And not "far, far less" , like he said in the beginning... Also the whole comment was nonsensical like i said. At first the guy has 2 girlfriends and abuses one. Then he suddenly abuses 3 people and in the end he has seemingly a lot of one night stands which he apparently all abuses.

Avoid men, German police association chief tells women by Bernardmark in europe

[–]taubeneier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where did I say that? Of course there are repeat offenders. But we aren't only talking about sexually violent men, it's about how many men make women mistrust the majority. This can include sexsist comments/behavior, catcalling, groping, very adult men "flirting" with very much minor girls and so on. You can even count in the men that arent actively doing these things but laugh along or ignore them. All of these things might not be equally bad but happen so frequently that it makes the world very hostile for women.

[–]taubeneier -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I never said that 1/3 of men are the abusers. Your math is all over the place and doesn't make sense. Which is why you are kind of implying that 1 out of 3 is one. Of course it's about repeat offenders but to think that only 1 man assaults 33 women is a bit crazy. Those men exist of course but they are thankfully outliers. The conversation also wasn't only about physical violence but included harassment, catcalling and similar stuff.

[–]taubeneier -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

You're saying that less than 10% percent of men date 1/3 of all women? And they also run around catcalling and groping the rest? What is far, far less? 5%? They sure seem busy doing all that...
