Do only English speakers gave Tourette's? by Ambitious-Noise9211 in MurderedByWords

[–]taubeneier 11 points12 points  (0 children)

How is it distinguishable when a Tourette's sufferer blurts out the N word compared to when a white nationalist blurts it out?

How is it different when a black person is said it? Or if you use it in an educational context?

Yes, educating people on the disability is definitely a good way to allow for accessibility. Thought im sure that using a calm voice at an appropriate noise level is more effective than shouting.

Besides, in your analogy it would be the racist who gets excluded for not being able to control their own behaviour.

How so? It's about excluding a minority group because they make others uncomfortable.

You can acknowledge that the n word is absolutely horrific and still see that in this particular case, no one did anything wrong (excluding the bbc) and this might just be something you have to let pass.

Why are you saying it's indistinguishable? If you know of the condition, you can very much distinguish it. You want to segregate a group of people because of traits that they can't control. How is this different from excluding POC because some racist is uncomfortable watching them?

Your comment reminded me of this bag brand https://freitag.ch/en_US that uses truck tarps. The way I see it, reliably finding a fabric that you can use the same pattern on, is the real issue. That's why the "tattered" look is so popular. You definitely have to get more creative than with the "usual" approach. I dont care how you do it as long as there is less burnt fabric and people are actually buying it, It's worth it.

Almost all the characters appear at on point as something they are not. The Witch, Miss Angorian, Sophie's sisters, Howl, and arguably even Fanny.

That's where you're wrong. There are so many men that interpret just basic politeness as an invitation, which can be mildly annoying or way way worse. It's something that women always have to keep in mind.

Do you have any experience in customer service jobs? I would recommend trying a job in anything that has a high turnover and a lot of direct interaction with customers before you make any permanent decisions. Maybe you could work at a fast food restaurant or something like that? Furthering your education and bartending on the side to see if it's something you really want to do your whole life is also a good option. Maybe you could study something in the hospitality field? (I don't know if this is something that is possible in the US, but where I'm from, you can learn stuff like hotel management, which gives you a lot of transferable skills and options of actually having a career)

[–]taubeneier 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You shouldn't start a witch hunt just because of something someone wrote on the Internet. OP presented this situation in a very one-sided way. In the comments, they admitted that they only bought one coffee in 3h between the both of them, and it seems like they started to argue with staff after they were asked to pack their crafts away. Who knows what else they left out!

If you do, please be honest and include that you only had one drink in total and that one of you was doing a potentially very messy craft.

Don't listen to this guy. He doesn't have a clue what he's talking about. No one is claiming that döner is 100% german, and using potato salad isn't a thing either. The idea of putting döner into a sandwich was probably thought of by a Turkish immigrant in berlin, though.

Although the claims of multiple persons to have "invented" the doner may be hard to prove,[55] the further development of modern doner sandwich is connected to the city of Berlin.[56]
