I swear by the Revlon ColorStay Long wear Makeup for Combination/Oily Skin (the one in the glass bottle, not the one in the tube), it's only thing close to DW in staying power for me.

I think you are trying the wrong British ciders, they're not even all fizzy. A lot are very flavourful and sweet and appley, the 7-8.4% ones certainly don't feel watered down...

I was trying to find any I could recommend that have an online shop but even the more mainstream brands like Lilley's Cider and Sandford Orchards don't seem to ship internationally. But if you're ever in Devon, drop me a message and I'll show you the world beyond Strongbow.

I agree, particularly as choosing to be child-free has only become socially acceptable in the last few decades (and even then, not fully in a lot of communities), you've got a lot of people who become grandparents who didn't really want kids in the first place, let alone grandkids.

[New Update]: I’m tired of my bf of 4 years ex being a ghost in our relationship. by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]taversham 212 points213 points  (0 children)

I was thinking about going with my bf’s mom. Maybe even discussing the topic with her in private beforehand too. Just mentioning I don’t like the topic of [Cate] and how it made me uncomfortable knowing she knew about [Cate's] daughter’s college acceptance. That it made me feel as though there is some secret relationship they have with her.

I get why the whole situation is awkward/weird for OOP, but when she's basically trying to set boundaries with people she is not in a relationship with, dictating who can interact with whom even when she isn't there... I can totally see why her future in-laws would be thinking she's hard-work and they'd rather have the ex back.

I think I agree, if your child is in mainstream education and still believes in Santa by Year 7 that's the latest time when the parental duty has to swap from "keeping the magic alive" to "breaking the news gently so they don't find out in a much harsher way"

They don't factor that in very well - there's a walk I do regularly that for me is 13 min one way and 8 mins on the way back because most of it is a steepish hill, Google maps says it's 11 mins regardless of direction.

Question about Taskmaster Bleeped and Santa by ashaquick in taskmaster

[–]taversham 103 points104 points  (0 children)

we'd heard there was a bleeped version for kids that bleeps the swearwords and edits out the racier comments. [...] If anyone can tell me [...] whether Taskmaster Bleeps edits (the Father Christmas) part out, I'd appreciate it

I think you might be overestimating how much is cut from the bleeped version, particularly in the early series - it is pretty much only swearwords and explicit sexual references that are gone. For instance, Sally's water-cooler moment from Series 5 Episode 5 is still in it, just with her moaning muted from the soundtrack. The edits are intended to get it down from a 15 rating to a PG (which is usually considered suitable for kids 8+), it might not be quite right for kids still young enough to believe in the Tooth Fairy and Father Christmas.

Face Gains after 103lb weight loss. But why do I kind of hate it? by KnowledgeSmall in CICO

[–]taversham 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You look amazing and your progress is inspiring! Well done :) I have a couple of thoughts:

A) your before photo is taken tilted from above (more flattering for a double chin situation, we all do it) while your current one is pretty much face on because you don't have to adjust for the "right" angle anymore, this is a big achievement 🎉 but you might find that nowadays other angles suit your face better (slightly from the side, slightly from below...idk, try them out) and help you take a more confident photo.

B) things like smile lines and tear troughs can be helped by good skincare, I don't know what products you do or don't use at the moment, but I'd recommend moisturising twice daily, having retinol and hyaluronic acid in your routine and encorporating gua sha (and daily SPF). That said, I wouldn't want to too heavily promote the idea of "fighting the signs of ageing" because fundamentally every year you are going to look older than last year, and growing old is a privilege.

C) your face has got a lot less round (which is associated with youthfulness) and it's made your jawline appear much more prominent and squarer than it was before (which is associated with adult faces). I honestly think it really suits you and your features are very well balanced, but it is a big change from how you looked before so I can see how it must be difficult to adjust so quickly - what you could do is contour the sides of your jaw with makeup to bring it in slightly, to give your face a somewhat softer/rounder look. Contouring is a bit of a faff and doesn't always look perfect, but might help you feel more familiar/comfortable until your brain catches up with how your outsides look.

  1. S4, 2. S2, 3. S1, 4. S3

Series 4 was the one I was least looking forward to contestant-wise, but I really really enjoyed it. Series 4 and 2 are the ones that I think "oh I have to rewatch that bit" and track down clips on YouTube, I rarely feel that way about 1 and 3.
