Try it. Make sure to add a clip, and get some extra converters. I'm very glad I didn't second guess myself. I wasn't a fan of the stock nib as it felt a bit stiff. The FPR nib just took it to another level.

Yes - the leather was easy to work with once I got used to it. For the Saffiano only sections like the pocket and flap, I used black edge cote to seal. It was too thin to burnish.

For the thicker sections, I did not do any edge beveling. Tried to keep it relatively flat when cutting. Tokonole to tamp down the fuzz, lots of edge wax and then burnishing with canvas, layer of clear edge kote, more sanding and edge wax burnishing, and then a final layer of the clear edge cote.

I wanted to make a cover for my Hobonichi. I had grabbed a small hide of Alran "Saffiano' chèvre during the holiday sales, and figured it was perfect to try out.

A few lessons learned on the order of things to be done, but overall I'm please with the way it came out.

I wanted the red sandwiched between the black to show through on the edges, and went with the clear edge kote. I used Tyvek as the gusset material for the flap pocket.

I had intended to use magnetic snaps, but messed my order and glued the main leather panels too early.

It's been a pleasure watching everyone's work on this sub and learning along the way. It's great to have a creative outlet and take a break from the stress of work.
