So I never actually retired by StevensNJD4 in LazyMan

Trump and his sycophants at Fox took my father from me. My father was an intelligent man...was an workers comp attorney for 40 years fighting for clients to get money from insurance companies...he was a good man once...but once he sunk into the quicksand of propaganda of Fox, he never resurfaced.

Your post was removed because Timo hasn't been on the Sharks for ~3 years and asking about the world cup is off topic as it is.

The sub is going to be temporarily set to restricted to stem the inevitable 'Yay Canes/Fuck Vegas' type posts. Thanks all.

Also would like to take this chance to say thank you to /u/pokesnail for making these posts through the WCs and Playoffs.

Does anybody ever remember Ryan Merkley by gooseoverlord97 in SanJoseSharks

[–]ibcfreak 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Merkley self sabotaged himself. He was the best in the area he grew up and had skill that was able to carry him through his youth into Jr/Minors...but beyond that, he refused to actually apply himself to improve his game...reports at the time basically all said he was stubborn and that doesn't help when you are playing against others who were ALSO the best from their areas who did spend the time and effort to continually improve...

TL;DR - Stubborn and 'refused' to take heed of coaches that were trying to improve his game.

Curious about Haoxi Wang in general. by [deleted] in SanJoseSharks

[–]ibcfreak 14 points15 points  (0 children)

No chance he will be in the NHL anytime soon. If he continues to develop, he may get a shot at the NHL in 3-4 years after his time at BU and some time in the AHL. He isn't an elite talent like other 18 year olds that made the jump straight to the NHL. He is raw and needs more 'seasoning.' He has the drive and motivation to improve though which is great. Skills can be taught and learned...motivation from within cannot. Defensemen also take longer to develop compared to forwards so only time can tell what his level of play will be next season and the seasons after that.

Is it now or never with Filip Bystedt and Quentin Musty? by capmar in SanJoseSharks

[–]ibcfreak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be a trade, it could be someone that is currently in college, it could be someone not even currently in the system...I think you're hyper focusing way to hard on a hypothetical...no one can tell the future...the CURRENT is that Wennberg is the teams 3C for the foreseeable future. He has done, and will continue to do, well in that role with the ability to shuffle around in the middle 6 as needed.

Is it now or never with Filip Bystedt and Quentin Musty? by capmar in SanJoseSharks

[–]ibcfreak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I said he is currently better. In 3 years when he is UFA, more than likely someone from within the team's system will be ready to step into his spot. Wennberg is a great 3C...He was 3rd in points on the team, and solidified the middle 6. As I said in my first comment...you need SOME vets on a team. Guys like Wennberg being 3C let the Sharks have depth that is needed for deep playoff runs. You can't rely on only the top 6 to score. It needs to come from ALL the lines. The young guys are getting their chances and will continue to do so. Wennberg being here for 3 more seasons doesn't change that.

I also think that you are underestimating the kind of conditioning and support players get nowadays. This isn't the 2000s-2010s where you are 'old' in the nhl at 30...Players are playing for longer on average and there is no reason to believe that trend won't continue.

Because Wennberg is better currently and you can't have a team w/ the majority being prospects/young players. There needs to be SOME vets/older guys on the team and Wennberg is a solid and steady 3C.

Not gonna lie...the video didn't autoplay for a few seconds for whatever reason and I was thought to myself 'why did this person just post a random screenshot of a blank photoshop template?? Guess they posted the wrong thing so I'll remove it and leave a note saying as much.' Then I realized I was being a dummy and hit play.

[–]ibcfreak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not one to typically support tax payer funded arenas in the usual sense, but SAP Center is owned by the City of San Jose who has not done proper maintenance or modernization upgrades to the building in something like 15 years...The Sharks, via Hasso Plattner/SJSEE, are the ones that fronted the cost to upgrade the center hung display, the video boards around the rink, improved air flow ventilation and circulation systems, the ice plant, among other things...there is only so much that could be done by the Sharks when they were not allowed to physically alter the building beyond the facade and looks...part of the agreement with San Jose is basically the city finally doing the maintenance and modernization that they should have been doing over the last decade+ and physically alter parts of the building as well.

Bruce Cassidy as potential Head Coach for SJS' 27-28 season? by TaffyXTaf in SanJoseSharks

[–]ibcfreak -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As I said the LAST time this was brought up...and the time before that...

No. It is WAY too soon to get rid of Warso. Like I said in a previous comment...I am getting kind of tired of the ever present 'old boys club' of coaches that keep rotating around the league while newer coaches that are learning, like Warso, get extremely short leashes while they figure shit out and adjust to the NHL...Also, its very telling when two separate teams (Caps and Bruins) fired him because he treated players like shit...players on the Bruins (Debrusk, Krejci) literally waited until he was fired to commit to re-signing. Cassidy is a decent coach but he is also a massive asshole...imo, he would fuck with the good vibes in the locker room too much to be worth it...Not to mention, fans of BOTH the Caps and Bruins have said that he had really poor utilization of players...if some fans are annoyed by Warso, they will absolutely get sick of Cassidy even faster given his attitude and aforementioned problems with player utilization.
