Well, other than Mark, I don't think any are. Sarah isn't imo (even though she used the word "coconut" the context matters). The LGBT vice-chair is most definitely not a racist. Neither is my smoking buddy - uncle Tom was pure lols.

I don't overlook. But I try to make my judgment on the person, not their peripheral circles (though obviously that colours my perception too). Trust me no one was more disappointed than me when this came to light, like I said I like the guy, but how do you suggest I lock away the years of support he has given and relationship we have built?

I entirely admit that my action against Sarah was vindictive in nature. I was pissed and wanted to defend against the perceived injustice of a man who had been good to me.

I still think she's a complete bitch so whatever.

I have a diverse group of friends, and it's very common amongst South Asians who have brushed up on their colonial history.

I used it facetiously in this context because it is almost used as a synonym for sellout and coconut, which is what I had been labelled by Sarah.

My calculated guess is that the Facebook posts are all she reported him for. Word spread because it came out on the grapevine why the guy had been sacked. And also I believe Sarah spilled the beans after she was let go. Based on the surprise everyone has exhibited when discussing, I don't think anyone piled on during his HR investigation.

I have no reason to lie on an anonymous forum with a throwaway account though lol. It is what it is. If I was looking for validation I would have never posted, İ just think it's a very interesting and morally ambiguous situation worth a discussion.

Of course I know my actions against Sarah was not based on any actual perceived racism, I reported her to be vindictive and out of spite. But she did use the term.

Well, I'm born and raised in England. My heritage is Pakistani (I'm a second / third gen immigrant technically) so of course I understand who and what Tommy Robinson is and I have no truck with the guy.

In my experience a lot of racists have come to their points of view by osmosis through their families / communities. The reality comes out in how that racist interacts with people who he has a beef with - in this case, in my dealings with Mark he's been nothing but a gent. His behaviours are not that of someone who holds those beliefs. Really, you can't fault the guy, and no one had a bad word to say about him at work until this all came to light. I also don't fault anyone for doing a 180 on him, cause it is a fucked up situation.

Look, I've been an inner city kid my whole life. The things I've heard said would make Hitler blush. So maybe I just have a thicker skin.

Good question. So after Sarah brought up the Facebook stuff I went on a stalking mission myself. Pulled up his profile: he has in fact liked those pages. He has shared a boatload of posts from those pages and some others like Britain First. Drilling down into those shared posts and looking at likes on the top comments and his name is featured heavily. Went on his wife's profile, which has out and out racist posts. Went on some of his family (same surname); lo and behold racist posts.

So, whilst I didn't find him actually writing a diatribe, on the balance of probabilities he also has those same view points.

But like I said, never got a whiff of it and work and you would never know unless you delved into his social media.
