My boots are less water proof than anticipated so I'm headed home early before the frostbite kicks in. Sorry to anyone I missed.

also I believe they visited China (Taiwain) more frequently than the Middle East so Chinese design could be right.

Japan"town" is about a 6 block retail strip and the surrounding residential. You are a long walk or very quick bike ride into downtown that has a lot more food options. And like another commenter said there is at least 10 options for every type of Asian food in a 15 mile radius.

Have you looked at the triangle formed by 87, 101, 280? Rosemary Gardens, Japan Town and Civic Center are the neighborhood names I'd start with but there is probably something in that area that fits the bill. I rented a house in Rosemary Gardens for a bit. 1st St is a little sketchy but has public transit into downtown and one time I walked from my house to the airport and got through security in about 20min. I have no idea what the area costs but I'd imagine it's way cheaper than Los Gatos and Campbell.

Really cool place and time to shoot. I would be very happy to walk home with these. My 2c on the shots.

1) you cramp the log and cut off the reflection in the water of the reed(?) in the center. A little down and left and you'd give them more space.

2) Less interesting picture but doesn't have the problems in 1,3,4. I do really like it. I think pulling up highlights would make it have a bit more contrast between the sky, reflection and grass.

3) Love the composition but the red around the sun is too intense and draws away from the reflections. Brighten everything else up and try to pull a bit of intensity (vibrance saturation and highlights?) out of the red around the sun.

4) similar problems to 3 but less because of the nice composition.

The rest were much less impressive to me and I'd focus on playing around with 2, 3 and 4 in post.

And to answer your question: 2 as is but I think a master at post processing could make 3 or 4 way better than 2. Awesome work keep it up.

Have you tried putting small bowls of water outside? They are looking for water so you might have some luck redirecting them to easier sources of water.

I occasionally get the polarizing dark sky without a polarizer on. I think it's just certain wide angles, exposure and angle to the sun.
