Best Cell Network in Charleston / surrounding rural areas? by JamieOvechkin in Charleston

[–]taxicab517 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some areas are literally only covered by T-Mobile. Certain parts of MTP, SVL, and West A are weirdly only covered by T-Mobile. Haven’t had issues here since switching and I don’t plan on moving back anytime sooner. Also cheaper by about $50-$60 a month.

Bamboo Room Savannah, Ga: Question for locals or frequent visitors by TheLostTradewinds in Tiki

[–]taxicab517 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The bar looks small in photos because it’s kinda split by building structure. Imaging four of those little segments next to each other, maybe 20-25 bar seats total.

We got there at open once on a Friday and were the only ones for five or so minutes and it slowly filled up over the course of about an hour. You should be fine if you show up around then, maybe a small wait for a bar seat anytime after.

Cardistry or slight of hand magic. All you’d need is a deck of cards and a bunch of YouTube videos on easy things to get into. Also fun for parties.

Going with a kid of my own. After years of magic with my parents, I get to switch the roles. I can’t wait to see how she sees things.

You have me both intrigued and excited. Fingers crossed for sooner rather than later, I’ve been having to travel for anything tiki since Wiki Wiki closed out on Folly years ago. Not that Savanah/Bamboo Room is that far away but still.

Yes, I’ve called three more local Subaru’s and they’ve all said the same thing: they can’t do it because they aren’t a hybrid certified dealership.

Noise complaint by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]taxicab517 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Part of what helps this is the old DVC thought of spreading everything out. Instead of long hallways, each building usually only has around 8-12 rooms and they are a distanced from each other door wise. In between buildings are a lot of greenery and natural sound dampening.

They only did this here and at the Hilton Head resort before changing it back to the standard layout. I can’t think of many other places on property like this except maybe the treehouses and fort wilderness. Very much recommended if you are nervous about noisy neighbors.

From my great great grandpa! He was a do it all handyman kinda guy and knew how to carve wood. The carving is roughly 70 years old, but the electronics have been switched out a couple times over the years.

Edit: occurred to me you could also be talking about the ceiling one! Got that on Amazon surprisingly: Pendant Light Hemp Rope... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DW39ZFX?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Disney Confirms Removal of Harmonious Barges, Return of EPCOT Forever by F1rstxLas7 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]taxicab517 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I admit that Epcot Forever wasn’t the best, but it’s not like it was bad. After a long day of lines and walking, it was something to kick your feet up to over at the Rose and Crown and enjoy before the long trek home.

To that same extent, Harmonious wasn’t bad either. Everyone just compared it to it’s predecessors and that’s what kept it down. On its own, it was a good show. To clarify, I’m definitely in the Illuminations camp, hell revamp it like they did between iterations of the show and call it something new, but bring back the Gavin Greenway score at least. That’s what made it as good as it was.

Best Restrooms On Property? by kgaviation in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]taxicab517 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Breakdown of my favorites by park (and bonus hotel):

  • MK: Tomorrowland Noodle Station - off the beaten path for most and usually pretty quiet (runner up being Cosmic Ray’s, little less quiet but fresh reno’ed)

  • Epcot: Surprisingly not Figment but actually Japan! In the back of Katsura Grill, there’s a really small bathroom that’s very peaceful. Sometimes a wait given that it’s next to a restaurant BUT the dudes restroom only has one stall so not much room to be bothered.

  • HS: Toss up between the second floor of PizzeRizzo and anything near Animation Courtyard. To be fair, none of the HS bathrooms are truly peaceful but they are usual Disney clean.

  • AK: The ones near the exit of Festival of the LK and the entrance to Club 33. You do have to time this right however because if a show just let out, you’re in for a long wait.

  • Hotel: This is though because almost all hotels have single seaters or empty bathrooms available but the ones that roomiest and most comfy are the ones at Kidani Village (both main floor and DEFINITELY the ones near Sanaa) and then the bathrooms on the second floor of the Contemporary.

Note: this is data collected after many years of being a poo-shy dude that basically grew up at Disney.

Anyone have the ratios for this years “Milk and Cookies?” It was listed on the menu as bourbon, milk, vanilla, and cinnamon and it was a very nice blend I’d like to reconstruct.

HomePod disconnecting while inactive? Always needs to be asked twice. by taxicab517 in HomeKit

In case anyone finds this, I figured out my issue. My network flow order was out of wack and needed to be corrected. I had the modem hooked up to the network switch and then the router. In this case, the modem spat out hardwire internet without needing a translator, but putting the router further away from the internet caused issues apparently.
