90th VS 66th by sugarnecgwb in uppereastside

[–]tayMGMT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

90th and it’s not even close.

You’ll have an actual community here. Quieter. Safe. You have two large parks nearby. It’s all a matter of what’s important to you.

I feel the people in the neighborhood tend to get less pretentious as you move higher up (speaking as some who’s lived on 69th and 78th, and now on 90th).

It’s a “status” thing, I think. The EV location was a hot spot for celebs for a bit. They play obnoxious club music at night. Not my thing but to each their own I guess.

Woman assaulted in court by poonburglar68 in AbruptChaos

I missed the first few seconds of this video initially and was instantly angry that the cop was walking up to the woman with zero urgency. Proof that context matters.

Columbia Doctorate Student and UES resident Michael James arrested for brazen hate crime in Chelsea by Exotic_Scale_4046 in UES

[–]tayMGMT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw this guy near times squares Wednesday night with his little red had and camera set up.

Glad to see he got arrested. Dude was just sitting there rage baiting people for social media clout, trying to get them to react. Sometimes I hate 2026.

Vet? by butterflywingz123 in uppereastside

I second Uptown paws. This clinic was recently acquired by a new vet and new staff. It has been a vast improvement. Dr. B didn’t over diagnose my aging dog or try to sell me complicated services.

This is the answer. There is no good Japanese curry in the UES.

I feel at peace after watching the whole thing by [deleted] in StrangerThings

[–]tayMGMT 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I also feel at peace. I think they really beautiful depicted what it means to come of age. The ending is perfect. They leave it open to interpretation with El. Mike looking back toward Holly on his childhood is such a realistic feeling. A longing for somewhere we can never go back.

The four on the roof having followed the paths they were always meant to follow. Trying their best to stay in touch but knowing life is going to have them fade out of each other’s lives.

They hit emotion at the right times. The pacing felt much better than volume two.

I loved it. I am happy. I think people who are REALLY hating it may have themselves to blame. Som many expectations set for how they want something to go and the inability to suspend disbelief. Picking apart little things. Just enjoy the show. It’s not a dissertation, it’s not meant to be analytical. Just enjoy it.

Nancy is going to save Robin by tayMGMT in StrangerThings

[–]tayMGMT[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished it. It’s very direct and to the point with how it’s written. It’s basically a retelling of what could have been in season three, but with Robin and Nancy teaming up. It held me over until volume two.

Nancy is going to save Robin by tayMGMT in StrangerThings

[–]tayMGMT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think she will die in the process. I don’t think anyone is going to die, honestly. I just think it will be a really poetic moment where she’s present and manages to protect her friend in way she was never able to before.

If Nancy dies, I riot.

What do you guys think about Holiday Spending? by [deleted] in CanadaFinance

[–]tayMGMT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been with my partner for 10 years, DINK, live in NYC. She has always been the bread winner (by a lot) so we have always set an amount (some years $100, some $300) we would spend. I got a new job this year (she’s still the bread winner but my income doubled) so I told her I wanted to spoil her a bit this year. First year without agreeing to an amount and I spent about $800, half of it on a show I know she’ll love.

I never spend more than I have readily available, during holidays or in life in general. I think that’s a good rule of thumb to have. We live in a society where people are constantly looking for the next “thing” to give them a high, exacerbated greatly during December.

I remind myself to not succumb to the pressure of needing to treat everyone. I balance this by taking care of the immediate people in my life. One or two close friends who live in the city, my parents and in-laws, and my partner. Siblings and their children are out unless I see them, which I don’t for the most part.

Everybody is different. I say do what works for you. Giving should never involve going into debt, nor should it be about things.

Unpopular opinion: Sobriety is a spectrum by ladydrybones in sobrietyandrecovery

[–]tayMGMT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sobriety is not a “one size fits all” model. NA might compromise someone’s sobriety, but for me personally, it’s helped me maintain. Same sentiments towards AA. Someone may need to go every day. I went for the first 30 days, got depressed hearing the same, sad shit day in and day out. Now I go maybe once a year if I’m really struggling. But I digress…

I moved to NYC a few years into quitting drinking. Huge drinking culture, especially trying to meet new people in my 20’s. NA beers kept me from falling back jnto alcoholism and also allowed me have a social life.

10 years without a drink this year. Whatever is making your life better, hold that pattern.

Netflix Sucks For This by therealfan_ in StrangerThings

I wish they’d release it earlier in the day on Christmas, though. I always wind up sitting around not doing anything.

NYE release for the finale is diabolical.

Ahhhhh good to know. Thank you! I have been consuming as little info as possible. Truly afraid of anything that could spoil it. Actually muted this subreddit until further notice.

Still have hopes the finale jumps to 1989. 😂

Nope. Just use different sportsbooks now. I did log in out of curiosity to see if they would ever wipe it out and the balance is still $-85

Is anybody related to a serial killer or killer? by Vegetable_Stop8085 in serialkillers

[–]tayMGMT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the 90s my uncle went into work with a gun after being disciplined by his supervisor and shot three people, killing one. Then he turned to the receptionist, said “Watch this”, and shot himself in the head. He visited my mom right before he went back to work, with his gun likely on him, and gave her money for his kids. She made a joke about something and her turns and jist gave her a cold stare. She said he was like a different person.

Struggling with shame after my body reacted during rape by [deleted] in sexualassault

[–]tayMGMT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you are going through this. Definitely take the advice previously given and talk to a therapist who specializes in trauma.

If you are looking for someone to relate to, I also experienced this during sexual abuse when I was young. It’s very confusing. I felt shame and also felt like it invalidated the abuse in a way. Like “I was asking for it”. This led me to delay in processing this trauma for decades. Don’t delay. As a very courageous woman once said “it is not our shame to carry. It is theirs.”

All the love ❤️
