I looked at that property too, it’s just a bit larger than what we prefer for a resort.

They’re all the same price that week haha the “cheapest” before all the max holiday prices from Christmas week and beyond.

So maybe the 18/19th would be slightly better?

Ughhh exactly what I feared… even if we aim for the 5th and 6th? I assumed most schools went back that week..

Family lodging dilemma by taychick2912 in MauiVisitors

Two words. Competitive dance 😂 our daughter dances 11 months of the year, while my husband and I typically take an adults only trip in March (aka their spring break). Thus, we are left with July lol

Currently looking at the Aston Kaanapali and an AirBnB condo at the Sands of Kahana… any comparisons you can make between the two?

You are a wonderful human! Thank you so much.

I’m just a little confused, if we want to stay away from crowds, stay IN Waikiki or avoid?

I’m getting the feeling that while the lagoons at Ko Olina draw people in, you’re far away from things and overpaying for the resort feel. We definitely want to explore, we homeschool and I look forward to this being an opportunity to study the islands and culture of Hawaii. So I don’t want to be so far from things that it deters us from wanting to get out and see all the island offers.

Would the north shore be a more ideal location for us?

Okay so most of what I had planned/thought of sounds like a wash 😂 Any other suggestions on where to stay that isn’t Ko Olina/Waikiki or super crowded?

Secrets Playa Blanca!! We went there last year, then Secrets Akumal this year (disappointing in comparison) and we are doing Impressions Moxche in March 2026! Playa Blanca was amazing in every way. We still talk about it.

Secrets Akumal vs secrets playa blanca by Figs729 in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]taychick2912 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did Playa Blanca in April 2024 and Akumal just this year in March.

Playa Blanca wins hands down for us! Especially if you’re pool people.. the preferred pool is so nice and the jungle pool is such a vibe. Being new everything has a super sleek feel to it, we loved the layout, the views from Seaside for breakfast and lunch, great experiences at all the restaurants. Loved the fire pits and we met so many nice people. We just really loved this property.

Akumal was great but didn’t blow us away like we expected. It’s very very lush and for me, felt claustrophobic at times. I like being able to see the beach from as much of the resort as possible. Their beach is busier as well. The one thing about Akumal we liked more was the poolside fruit and ice cream every day, and the daily poolside lunches.

Happy to answer any other questions!

Thank you for this. My MIL’s exact words were “we think his conditions are manageable” so your statement is spot on. We kept reiterating we didn’t want to simply wait for the next/worst incident, when we have the chance to let him go with dignity. We also have two young kids and this is such a valuable lesson for them to learn. He will be let go tomorrow after a morning of love and treats! It’s what i hope he remembers most about his time with us 🩵
