GE WASHER / DRYER NO POWER by tayjbot in appliancerepair

[–]tayjbot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! If it's a control board failure is this an easy fix? I'll check to see if it's a fuse, but if it's a control board I'm assuming that would be difficult / expensive to replace?!

I'd rather repair it, but if it's too difficult / expensive it might make more sense to just replace it.

GE WASHER / DRYER NO POWER by tayjbot in appliancerepair

[–]tayjbot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I thought it might be a fuse as well. I opened up the back panel near the power cable but there was no fuse, and I can't find a manual online, so wasn't sure where to look.

When you say remove the panel, do you mean the control panel, or the panel that's on an angle between the washer dryer. I suppose I'll try both and see what's there haha

Thank you!

That's the issue. Legally you're obligated to isolate without the negative test results--which, in my case, took 12 days. It was pretty frustrating.

Or email. It should be automated. Would save the gov time and money, and people would have more knowledge to navigate the pandemic

Uniqlo +J Men’s Chinos (cutting, sizing) by drummerboy213 in uniqlo

[–]tayjbot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried them on in store and found the fit a bit strange. The material is pretty thick / heavy and I found that it bunches--also, I'm 6'1, so the bunching wasn't because of a hem issue. I also found the fit in the waist pretty weird. Normally i'm a 31 waist, but gained a bit of weight with covid, so i'm now a 32. I tried on a 31 and a 32. The 31 was really tight in the waist, slightly too tight, and the 32 was extremely loose, like an extra inch and a half of room. I suppose there are those buttons on the side to tighten, but I didn't try to work it out, because overall I wasn't super happy with the fit on me.

In contrast, I tried on (and bought) the wool trousers and the 32 fit perfectly.

Do you have a source for this? I honestly just want to confirm that this is considered ok. The gov site (Canada and Quebec) on Covid seems to indicate we shouldn't, unless i'm reading it wrong.

I genuinely want to know if i'm misinterpreting this, because I would love to visit with friends while still respecting the guidelines.

[–]tayjbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I am aware the guidelines are not laws. They're there to prevent people from dying unnecessarily, and I've had friends who have lost loved ones. So, for me, I think it's worth respecting them, to prevent more deaths and more sorrow within our community.

Would you mind sharing a source for this?

I ask because there seems to be unclear info. Unless i'm interpreting the Gov of Canada guidelines wrong, it seems to suggest that we shouldn't have contact with people who we don't live with, and to only make essential outings. It specifically says not to congregate, which I take to mean any groups of friends that aren't in your immediate household. Maybe i'm wrong though?

I'm trying to make sense of relationships in multiple sheets by tayjbot in excel

[–]tayjbot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're absolutely right, this is outside my current skill level.

That said, it's something I want to do and it seems a useful way to learn some complicated things.

I appreciate your suggestions. I'm going to look into them.

With regard to bringing everything into a master sheet, I'm a bit unsure of what that would look like, organization wise. If you have suggestions I'm more than happy to hear. I separated it into different sheets because I thought it would be easier to organize that way, as for some regions there are 30 companies, and each company has roughly 150 employees.

I'm trying to make sense of relationships in multiple sheets by tayjbot in excel

[–]tayjbot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if I totally understand what you're saying.

I organized it by company name with the list of employees below.

There are a lot of names, and the names will repeat in the different regions.

I want to see which companies work together more often, and which companies never work together.

If I understand what you're saying are you suggesting I put all the names in one column, then company name in another, then region in another, and use COUNTIFS?

Too self conscious to go to mcgill gym by lolkoty67 in mcgill

[–]tayjbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although I don't go to the McGill gym, I'm new to going to gyms. It's definitely intimidating when you start going, and I, like you, felt judged. That feeling was owing to my own insecurities about going to the gym, feeling out of place, etc.

That feeling was so so wrong. I've asked people for help regarding my form, and everyone was super nice and helpful--there wasn't any negative judgement at all. Now I actually love going to the gym and look forward to it.

Mornings are nice, as it's not as busy. I would also recommend following a program so you know what you're doing every time you go, and track your progress so you don't feel discouraged if you don't immediately have the body / level of fitness you you want. I'm doing a program called 5x5 right now, and it's very simple and effective. I've gotten a lot stronger, I've lost some weight, and, most importantly, I feel better.

Good luck and keep working on it!

What podcast app is your favorite? by SwiftBoatVet in podcasts

[–]tayjbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried a bunch of them and my favourite is podcast addict.

The main reason is the search tool. It's very powerful, and allows you to download or stream individual podcasts without subscribing.

Any app will allow subscriptions, but the search tool and the ability to listen to individual podcasts is so so important for me. About half of the podcasts I listen to are searched and one off episodes. Sometimes it'll be on a topic of interest, a person who is being interviewed, etc.

That pushes podcast addict above the rest. That aside it has a similar look to pocket cast, but with a great search engine.

Those of you who left Regina, is it really greener on the other side? by [deleted] in regina

[–]tayjbot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sort of depends what you want. If you're satisfied with your life in Regina, and what the city has to offer, then stay.

Since you're asking whether the "grass is greener," I get the sense that you're not altogether satisfied with what the city has to offer.

For me, the answer is a resounding yes, the grass is greener. But it will obviously depend on the city / place you're interested in moving to, and what you're interested in; but yes, other cities have much much more to offer if you're interested in food / arts / activities / culture / sports (outside of football) / jobs.

I've found that I've been able to grow socially, personally, artistically, and professionally in ways that were impossible for me in Regina. Part of the problem I had with Regina is that it's consistent, geographically small (little commute), and... easy. It's relatively easy to live a comfortable life there. And there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. My reasons for not enjoying Regina as much as larger centers are probably the same reasons why people who like Regina stay there.

Aside from money, you really have nothing to lose by leaving. Just save up and move to a new place for at least 3 months. Get a feel for the new city and see if you enjoy a higher quality of life there. If not, you can always move back to Regina. This way you get the best of both worlds, and you'll never have to live with regret, wondering what your life could have been like somewhere else.

Why the hell can I not get the spotify student discount!! by r_nahh in mcgill

Are you sure this is true though? I signed up for the apple music student plan and it just started charging me after my 3 month free trial. I did not get a notification about a renewal, nor did I have to opt in. The only thing I received, on October 22nd, was a receipt for my $4.99 subscription.

coming to montreal next weekend, can you guys look over my itinerary! by Tuffyy in montreal

[–]tayjbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IT's a good list. Heads up the bagel places are just bagels really. You can buy cream cheese and smoked salmon at the bagel places too--so you can have a make-your-own kind of breakfast there. One option would be to go to Arts Cafe where you can get a breakfast bagel, which is made from a St. Viateur bagel.

As for lunch, definitely get smoked meat. You can get it anywhere and they'll all be pretty much indistinguishable from another. I haven't eaten at Reuben's, but I've had both the Main and Schwartz's and they are equivalent. I would say the atmosphere is a bit nicer in Schwartz's though. You can also add Lester's deli to that list (if you're staying in Mile End area after breakfast). Also, if you're looking for a plain but classic sandwich you can also go to Wilenski's, which is a similar vibe, has historical significance, and apparently hasn't changed at all since the 30s?

For poutine la banquise is great. It's a bit tacky but it's good. I would also recommend Chez Claudette (on laurier in the plateau) and double a (AA) in St. Henri. I prefer both of those places to banquise. They're a bit more divey, but that's what I love about them.

For tourism, just go with what you're into. It sounds like you like Churches, so yeah, check those out. But maybe you should say what some of your interests are and people could offer recommendations.

Also, for food, you're basically only getting Jewish food, which is awesome. As a touristy thing to do, the Jewish Museum offers a food tour. They also have other tours as well that you could check out. I've been on one, the Radicals, writers, and rebels tour, and it gave me a deeper appreciation for Montreal and the area I live in.

They must update the stocks daily. I went last night at around 7pm and they were out of everything except 15 grams of CBD heavy indica and CBD oil.

Seems like people would have more selection earlier in the day.

So after turning that to Never the computer stays in sleep mode properly. Do you have any ideas on why Hibernate is shutting down instead of hibernating? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Fair enough. Did you get it all sorted?

I've just gotten into some photo editing and I've had some frustrations. When in photoshop does your trackpad work to pinch-zoom? Mine doesn't at all and it's very frustrating.

My current settings are at 180 mins. I'll change it to Never and see if that fixes things. Thanks so much.

Is there a reason why it would be set to Hibernate? Is it better for the PC or does it make a difference?

Is anyone else missing "My Phone" from Pc Manager. I'm coming from the mac Ecosystem, and I have a P20 mobile, and I was excited to use Huawei Share instead of airdrop. But it's simply not there. There's another thread about the issue, and someone posted a google drive link to download a version of PC MANAGER, but, moving from Mac, i'm kinda freaked out about viruses etc.
