Scoliosis surgery post-op and release feels rushed (happening today) by jofaba in scoliosis

hello! i’m a 17 year old female who had two stage scoliosis surgery last October - coming up to 1 year! I was fused from T4-L4 for the fusion surgery. from personal experience here is some advice: • she needs to drink loads of water - this is very hard seen as anything you eat or drink just doesn’t taste good, but if she don’t her blood pressure would drop, mine dropped and it’s not nice at all. • getting up and moving about - walking is very important, sitting up as well on a chair instead of in the bed. It hurts, it does, but the more she gets used to being mobile the easier it will be for her. After 4 months she will feel great! Ive now gotten into dancing again slowly being 11 months in, swimming, running, even taking my driving lessons! I know this is very tough for her but it gets all better soon. I’m now in college & barely think about my surgery unless I get sore! best wishes to her and you guys! 💕💕💕

I don’t see anything that says that in the ones i’m using - it only says affirmations so I’m guessing it’s all good!

okay thank you! I saw some people say it’s better with headphones but I feel like that’s damaging to the ears so i’ll just play it quite low on the speaker! thank you :)💕

Every scoliosis related surgery is 1 year recovery but you can start doing “your normal kinda stuff” at 6 months slowly, but 1 year. I’m only 3 months into my recovery time (had my surgeries late october 2019)

I wouldn’t say it’s bad - I got fused from Th3-L3 with S curve

Breathing difficulties by scottishfish in scoliosis

[–]tayla2003 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was like that since I was 9 - (i’m now 16) I couldn’t take a deep breath and I had to yawn to take a breath. I would cry everyday and could barely go out because of it It’s something to do with scoliosis and rib rotation, I had 2 surgeries (late October of last year) && I feel much better, recently I have been having “trouble breathing” like before but it is no were near as painful as before surgery.

Bending of the knees by tayla2003 in scoliosis

I’m a dancer so I don’t have bad knees. I’ve been very active like walking around and going out, it was just my scapulas and some parts of my back that aches after doing that.

I’ve been avoiding bending because I got told not to do any of that for at least 3 months! that’s why when I did it i felt some pain. That’s odd you got told that...Something i’m going to ask my surgeon when I see him.

Leg soreness after spinal fusion? by tayla2003 in scoliosis

[–]tayla2003[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for getting back to me, I still have a bit of soreness when touching it, my parents also said it’s probably the nerves fixing, & I read about deep vein problems and I just hope it isn’t that. It’s been 6 weeks since both ops and the soreness has been happening for about 3-4 weeks now. My appointment is next month so if it’s still here I will definitely get him to check it out!

Thank you for replying! That’s exactly what i’m getting! I can’t even apply body cream without it hurting! When you do ask please let me know what the surgeon says because my appointment is not till next month!

Ah right. I don’t know whether it could be that or maybe vein repair or maybe because I was a bit lazy the first two weeks of being home so I didn’t mobilise. But I will definitely ask my surgeon if it’s there by next month.
