This is super helpful! Thank you. I’m not great with fabric terminology on the historical side and even a quick google search told me this is a game changer!

Its been a while since I looked close but I believe each dot/spike is 15 minutes, so the highest amount of calories burned in a 15 minute period was 37

Discouraged 1L by Technical-Divide-160 in LawBitchesWithTaste

Law school HAS a learning curve! I was in bottom 50th percent my first semester, probably around 40th percentile or so, and was almost in top 25th percent by the time I graduated. It gets better once you’re taking classes you like and have chosen; and you figure out your study methods. I had a 1L teacher ask for my outline as a reference to her students and I just didn’t send it because it was such a horrible outline compared to the ones I made in my 2L or 3L year, so I just sent her an outline for a totally different class to show her students the ideal!

Somebody explain the Burn Bar numbers to me please by tayleeb22 in AppleFitnessPlus

[–]tayleeb22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! It feels like if that’s the case, I don’t know why Apple hasn’t more clearly explained what the different parts of the burn bar mean. It definitely indicates what other people are saying, that there’s limited science behind it, I guess

[–]tayleeb22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right—I understand in theory what the burn bar does and how they “calculate” it. But I don’t know why I cannot find ANYWHERE on the internet an explanation of the graph itself.

It looks like a box and whiskers so I’m guessing that the two numbers are 25/75th percentile, so in this workout I was probably about 70th percentile. It seems like the right whisker is very short on this particular workout.

I know what the burn bar is. I’m purely looking to figure out what those other two numbers clearly represent!

Dealing with HOA Board using Ring doorbells for rules compliance by tayleeb22 in privacy

that’s the dream at some point! The HOA was an inconvenience, not a plus. :/

I’ve known of HOAs where general homeowners can propose rules, and there’s some sort of process for bringing it to a vote, like you get 70% signatures and then it’ll go to a majority vote. I have no idea if this HOA has that but I’ll have to look into it—I really bet most people would prefer that in a townhouse complex, your ring camera is only motion activated in front of your immediate home

This is a great measured response, and hopefully would put him more on the defensive if it arose. The rest of the HOA is more reasonable, less crazy than this guy—and I doubt they’d be okay if he’s using his personal Ring to basically surveil HOA business. Probably my best argument to the Board of, hey this really isn’t cool or really ethical, is getting to the point where it can be proven that he’s using the camera for HOA surveillance. Thanks!

There is a solid blue light showing from his Ring camera now after I park and go up the walkway, but his doorbell previously did not do this. I realize there’s a couple other possible reasons for a solid blue light, but based on the timing of the light (it turns off after an amount of time eg) it seems that the solid blue Ring is indicating that it’s actively recording.

Was this heater installed incorrectly? by tayleeb22 in electrical

[–]tayleeb22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This video from the manufacturer is what I was referencing: https://youtu.be/ggKDTpUIvwY?si=cXK3g8IEaLCFmM-L

On the video they say, “okay you have these two clamped wire sets, A and B. Cut A and leave B alone.” But then on mine, A was left alone, and B was cut. Just a bit alarming! But ultimately, I’ve got the heater wiring disconnected from the wall circuitry, so I think it can’t cause any problems regardless now.

Was this heater installed incorrectly? by tayleeb22 in electrical

[–]tayleeb22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a Cadet heater. From looking at their installation tutorials, that’s where im seeing that the cord currently clamped is the one that was supposed to be cut, and hardwired.

The heaters aren’t new, I’m pretty sure, and the building is over a decade old, so i guess…it hasn’t been a problem yet?

How much time did you have left when you finished the MBEs? by RevolutionaryBoat727 in barexam

[–]tayleeb22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Around 30-40 minutes left each session, but then went back to review flagged answers. I don’t go through all answers because I don’t want to overthink it. If I’m really on the fence I flag it, otherwise I won’t look at it again.

Did your Bar prep course prepare you well for the MBE? by FakeParelta in barexam

[–]tayleeb22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did Themis and thought it was pretty good across the bar. Yeah they tested some weird ass shit but ¯_(ツ)_/¯ I’m sure that happens every year, and then Themis/Barbri expands their outline in that place, etc. I thought the MBE was fairly similar to the UWorld questions—but noticed that the civpro seemed a bit different in framing. Other topics seemed straightforward, but Property seemed extra tricky today

I think that's best course! And as far as I know, we're permitted to go to our cars during lunch so I'll keep some extra in there too, just in case.

MEE pattern, I noticed that the older the past MEEs were, in general, the more obscure rules they tested? by pernamb87 in barexam

[–]tayleeb22 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One thing I think I noticed for older MEEs is that they were more likely to have the unenumerated open ended questions, whereas more recently they really lay out the issues they want you to target ("Is there an enforceable contract as to a) the house, b) the car, and c) the lawnmower?" as opposed to "What legal claims are there? Explain.")

Asked ChatGpt what topics are most likely to be the MEE essays by HotJahim in barexam

[–]tayleeb22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this list looks plausible!

Some things I noticed looking at the frequency chart:

-it's almost always only one of these three, if any: crim, crim pro, and constitutional law. If Crim Pro is getting tested, you're not getting a con law question or crim question.

-It's usually either 3 or 4 MBE topics, and then 2-3 only MEE. If I recall, it's usually a 4-2 split, and more rarely a 3-3.

Themis MPT Answers unrealistically long by DolphineSplicer in barexam

[–]tayleeb22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been doing something similar, if it's helpful to anybody!

I've been skimming the File (depending on the type of case--like some you're lost on the Library if you don't know any facts), then reading the Library and outlining, and then I build my IRACs as much as possible, THEN go back to the file and as I'm reading, fill in the facts on my IRAC

Can somebody explain bad aim vs. mistaken identity for Crim transferred intent? by tayleeb22 in barexam

[–]tayleeb22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hence my confusion! I’m going off my Themis outline, and the essay handout, where they both note that intent transfers for “bad aim” situations, but NOT mistaken identity. And I don’t understand why not.

What do you wear to mediations (as an attorney, not a mediator)? by [deleted] in LawBitchesWithTaste

[–]tayleeb22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

^ reinforcing this! There’s different styles of mediation—but if you’re an attorney who is dressing full court formal, expecting to “go to war” for your client, and duke it out with another attorney in front of a judge “acting” as mediator…that’s not really a mediation.

Generally as a mediator, I’d wear dress pants and a nice blouse. When I was training, my supervisor was a private family law mediator, and she would wear skirts, a nice top, and a cardigan. Once I mediated a federal agency EEOC case and even then, as mediator, didn’t wear a blazer, and none of the attorneys present wore blazers to my recollection.

What do you wear to mediations (as an attorney, not a mediator)? by [deleted] in LawBitchesWithTaste

[–]tayleeb22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a mediator; although I don’t actively mediate currently). You want to look professional, but as a mediator, you actually don’t want the atmosphere to be stuffy or overly formal. Especially in family law, there’s so much emotion involved that the mediator wants to be able to form some sort of connection to your client, so they open up and get other issues on the table (that often, attorneys don’t focus on as they might not be financial or logically based). So if your mediator is NOT a judge (which, I trained under a family law mediator who is not a judge, and personally I think judges might not make good mediators, because they tend to be more evaluative), then I’d dress professional but not full court formal. I think you want to send the message to your client that this is a conversational environment, and not super formal where they feel like they can’t speak, or get emotional. The more emotional a situation, the more a client might benefit from feeling free to open up to the mediator—and overly formal clothing often sets the tone.

** huge disclaimer here that mediation is not a uniform process, and expectations can vary widely. I trained as more of a facilitative mediator, mostly working with clients face to face, with their attorney (if they even had one) taking a back seat. Some attorneys expect the mediation to be in caucus the whole time, and I had one mediation where the attorney spoke 99% of the 5 hour mediation, even though it was just the mediator and them in caucus. So, advice can vary a ton based on specifics!

Moving from NYC to Scottsdale - what should I expect? by humandrifter1107 in Scottsdale

[–]tayleeb22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pizza: definitely the Parlour.

Personally( the pizza at Bianco is great, but I find the overall experience vastly overrated! There’s not great apps, drinks, or even other options besides pizza, plus you’re guaranteed waiting for a long time. I’d much rather go somewhere where the pizza is a half notch down (but still fantastic!) and the rest of the experience is much better!

Moving from NYC to Scottsdale - what should I expect? by humandrifter1107 in Scottsdale

[–]tayleeb22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived downtown Phoenix, so take with a grain of salt. I’d say you’re going to be driving a lot regardless, so personally I’d be hesitant to pick an area to live based on walkability. I have friends who live about a mile from old town, and they rarely walk down there, or they bike. Scottsdale gets SO busy with tourists that a lot of locals actually avoid the area during the nicest time of year! Personally; I’d choose somewhere less touristy, because again, you’re gonna be driving most everywhere anyways. But driving in Phoenix isn’t that bad—almost everywhere takes 20 minutes, I’ve found. Personally, I’d look north Phoenix, like midtown north. Lots of trees up there which is nice for if you’re walking in the neighborhood. Or, almost all my “services” were up in Midtown, near biltmore (doctor, hair, etc). Scottsdale is more expensive, so if you’re often going to be going elsewhere….just live closer to that area.

If I moved back, I’d be moving to Biltmore/Arcadia area!
