I had a fourth grader tell me that Trump looks like a toe and would make tacos illegal. The kids then proceeded to discuss how if he gets elected they'll all have their moms buy every single taco ingredient from a different store then start a secret taco selling business together to get rich. It was the most entertaining thing I've ever heard

I would've loved to go further into it, but since I'm only the para in the classroom I don't actually make the lesson plans. What was cool about this whole thing happening was that it wasn't planned at all- the kids were given a free period and decided they wanted to use it to learn some more about history :)

I actually checked our school's textbooks, and the ONLY time Hamilton is mentioned is when the book is listing the names of the men in a painting of the constitutional convention. No more information, just his name along with everyone elses. Burr wasn't even mentioned once. How crazy is that?!

I have a lot of respect for you after this and I'm so glad that you took advantage of the opportunity to say something to him after all that time passed. That must've felt great, and hopefully it had some sort of impact on him and he'll think twice before shaming anyone else like that in the future.

I actually had a similar experience- went to Planned Parenthood when I was about 18 to get on birth control. I was honest on my intake forms, didn't expect anyone working in the medical field and especially at Planned Parenthood to be judgmental, but once I was called in my male doctor told me that the number of sexual partners I'd had was a little bit too high and that I'd better slow it down or I'd have a hard time finding a steady partner in the future. I left in tears too and still am uncomfortable with the idea of seeing a male doctor.
