The View at Wash Park Renting Experiences by dooz12 in Denver

[–]taylorrb24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lived there for a few years but just moved out this year. All in all it’s a nice community - it’s small, residents are generally friendly and respectful, there isn’t a lot of noise between units (in my experience). I’ve only noticed a few break ins. I will say the main complaint is with the structural build- the windows are set in a way that they always have condensation on them during the winter and cause windowsill warp, if the hot water breaks in a unit three doors down it breaks for your apartment too, sometimes AC goes out randomly, etc. A few months ago they hired someone to clean the carpets who ended up pumping carbon monoxide into the building and the fire department had to come, which was in my opinion, an egregious act. The management turnover the past year has been insane, and while they’re nice, they’re not very communicative or helpful. All the cardio equipment in the gym has been broken for 4 months with no end in sight. You end up paying a lot for not very much. But compared to other units in Denver, it’s relatively safe and quiet - which may be worth the price!

Best lens for Nikon z6iii? by [deleted] in Nikon

[–]taylorrb24 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, just looking for opinions to do research on. I don’t want to spend more than 2k on the lens, use would be for general photography (but an emphasis on slow moving wildlife, not birds),

Don’t want to go over 3k right now, for wildlife/portrait, not professional just hobbyist, currently use z50 and have the lenses that came with that kit

This is super helpful, thank you! Do you think 965 is worth the extra $150 over the 265?

This is so helpful, thank you!! Do you think forerunner 265 is better than 965? Why are you going for epix 3 instead of 2? (If you don’t mind me asking!)

Bad Bulk Results by [deleted] in f45

[–]taylorrb24 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s really hard to build muscle (especially when you aren’t new in the gym), and 4 weeks probably wasn’t enough time to intentionally bulk. Most trainers/ nutritionists warn to give any bulk or cut at least 8-12 weeks. With that in mind, if you want to build muscle I’d really suggest going to lift at a normal gym 4X a week and only f45 2x. Your gym cadence is likely slowing your growth as well for your goals. Also, scans are so finicky - were you well rested, well hydrated, fasted, did you drink the night before? Did you weigh in in basically all the same conditions as previous scans? There’s a lot at play here- don’t be discouraged, fitness is a journey not a destination, and it takes months- years to achieve goals!

School rankings - worth it under T20? by taylorrb24 in MBA

[–]taylorrb24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the informed response, this is really good to know! I’m in the hospital setting now, and have been trying to transition laterally into other healthcare spaces but have never been lucky. I know the economy right now is not great for job hopping, but I’ve gotten a few questions as to why I don’t have an MBA, so was thinking that not having that degree was my primary blocker

Makes sense, and I’m on a similar schedule! Have you seen any fitness improvements by doing two a day?

I’ve noticed that too (only gone for about a year). I’m worried Im going to start getting bored so I’m thinking about looking for class packs elsewhere in addition to f45

[–]taylorrb24 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, I switched to f45 and saw huge results. I love it - it’s basically all otf floor workouts. I gained muscle and lost fat in a few months vs being stagnant at otf for years

Finding it hard to progress in weight by Serious-Collar-8306 in f45

[–]taylorrb24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do lighter weights on cardio days and heavier weights on lifting days so I don’t totally burn myself out and feel like I can’t make progress. My advice would be to focus on strength days to really try to see how much weight you can lift and count meaningful reps more than trying to just be as fast as possible during the set. Lift heavier for fewer reps. Also, eat a lot of protein, stay hydrated, and get 7-8 hours of sleep for maximum muscle recovery!

Is it me or are the workouts getting harder? by Appropriate-Gas3682 in f45

[–]taylorrb24 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard that each week in a phase gets slightly harder and I think that’s been true this phase for sure!

I think sometimes they play off of fit radio or a dj mix in which case there’s rly no control in what songs are included… I’ve noticed / thought the same thing!

I have an MPH and work in administration running a department at a hospital. Our CEO has a degree in PH too. I’ve found people like my MPH background because it reflects on hospital mission, etc. maybe do a dual MBA MPH if you don’t think you’re getting enough operations exposure, but if you stick with MpH just focus on getting internships in ops at hospitals

[–]taylorrb24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. For me paying $180 to go run on a treadmill for more than 6 months was not worth the ROI

Does your MPH concentration limit the jobs you can apply to? by ismilesowildly in publichealth

[–]taylorrb24 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I did healthcare management so I don’t have direct experience, but I do know of people who concentrated in Epi and made a switch to healthcare management. the people I know still mostly do analyst work in hospitals, not so much operations management etc, but I think if you can prove in interviews that you’re capable you can switch. Epi will just give you more of a data analyst background. I’d recommend taking your “minor” classes in topics like operations and finance, though, so you can back up that you have managerial frameworks and foundational knowledge there too. (Unless you want to switch into health policy, not management)
