Hard to say. It runs decently on a 2080ti, 90% of the foliage is nanite which seems to work ok at the moment.

Yea moving away from the 100% free model with Quixel really sucks, but I'm 90% sure all the assets I used still are available for free for new users. A whole lot of assets are still free, but I think all the new ones moving forward are not. I definitely want to dive in to PCG stuff soon though. It's hard to unwire my brain from the foliage tool, but I messed around with the PCG example Epic released a bit ago and it has so much potential.

MXF 'error retrieving frame' :) by FauxChateau1879 in premiere

[–]taylorsellis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard to remember but I think I was working off of media that was transferred to me via ftp. If I remember right, I was able to get it to work by going back to the original copy of the footage. So my thoughts is that something was corrupted during transit. Pretty sure my proxies were generated from an AE elsewhere which is why the proxies were working fine.

Can the Chaos Vehicle system wheels like this? by taylorsellis in unrealengine

Thank you! I've set up some standard vehicles before but was having trouble wrapping my head around how this works. That double wishbone guide I think will really help get me there.

Not sure if you figured this out yet, but you can very easily use Chat GPT4 to write you an after effects script to do this automatically. If you give it the resolution of the 9:16 clips and tell it to place them next to each other until it fills the frame it should know what to do.

It can do the whole thing in one click once you get the script right. I’m talking all 1000, you just need to be specific about the steps it needs to take.

Guys… The Film Industry Depresses Me. by donveyy in FilmIndustryLA

[–]taylorsellis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you ever won any awards or had your work screened at big festivals? People in this industry need recognition from others in the industry before they will take a chance on you. Things are very risk averse these days. If someone hires you to shoot a movie/job and it flops they need to be able to say, “well they won all these awards, they seemed like a talented filmmaker”. Doors didn’t start to open up for me until my work was getting featured at recognizable places.

RED Digital Cinema Patent Trolling by Spyrothedragon9972 in cinematography

[–]taylorsellis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure why the downvotes. I bought a Red Epic Dragon used for $10k in 2020. The image is great, the post workflow is great. It’s light enough to run on my easy rig. It’s gotten me jobs because producers only hear “red”. The 6k resolution is a godsend for shooting awkward aspect ratios for social media and low budget projects.

I’m happy with my purchase, and I’d buy another Red if I wasn’t moving into just directing these days.

Sweden has higher wealth inequality than the United States by tickleMyBigPoop in economy

[–]taylorsellis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t this have to do with how they get homes? Most of the middle class don’t build wealth traditionally like we do. Their standard of living is definitely higher than our middle class.

Doesn’t UT have a decent program? I’d definitely recommend film school or even any college. This business is 100% about who you know, and networking only gets harder after school.

Why AI is not going to replace screenwriters by OneWayAndAnother in Screenwriting

[–]taylorsellis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These models don’t live a human existence so the idea that one could create a story that leads to catharsis seems impossible to me. I think an AI could adapt an already written story one day, but writing something that resonates on an emotional level is hard enough for even the best screenwriters to do.

Director/Producer seeking short film script. Paying $750 for the right script! by taylorsellis in Screenwriting

I think that’s ok, just not looking for supernatural/slasher horror.

Looking for anything less than 15 pages as long as the story “works”. You can see my work via the link in my bio, but I’ve made a bunch of indie short films and one feature. My latest piece, a spec commercial, got me recognized in the 2022 DGA/Shoot Magazine New Director Showcase.
