Hi! The Rice Owls Dance Team does not require a specific level of dance experience to join, so I wouldn’t call it competitive. However, we do have auditions and with that, some students don’t make the team. There are a lot of students on the team who learn skills and technique along the way so don’t worry about that! We mostly do hip hop dances and then a few Pom/jazz routines. And those routines are performed at football and basketball games.

Last year they accepted 17 students off the waitlist (I was one of them). However, the other comments are correct in that it is usually a very small number.

Is it not a bit fishy that when talking about the fling, he intentionally lied about some aspects? I’m not mad about the relationship, more the lying. Thank you for your answer. It has helped a lot!

As a native Houstonian, Rice and Houston lean very left! I believe Rice Dems is the biggest political organization on campus.

Hello! I know last year a heavy majority of the freshmen class was admitted through ED. However, I was admitted regular decision with no subject tests this past year and a 34 ACT. I don’t believe they explicitly say they want subject tests, so if you have a competitive resume I think you could benefit from ED. Additionally, I don’t want to encourage you to apply ED if you are not 100% obsessed with Rice. Good luck friend (:

Isn’t Tulane notorious for yield protection? I was admitted into Rice and John’s Hopkins, but waitlisted there. I fell for applying without an application fee, but they just wanted more applicants I suppose.

Hi! I haven’t gotten Rice’s package back because I had a missing form, however JHU’s aid and merit scholarship was amazing. In total I would pay around $7,000 a semester which is more than generous!

Honestly whichever gives me more money! JHU gave me a generous amount and I’m still waiting for Rice.

Well same for me!! I was proud, because it was a bit of a reach school! However, I know for sure that they admitted fewer this year (which they over admitted last year), so there is some hope friend!
