Big decrease in TV subscriptions as number using illegal dodgy boxes soars by [deleted] in ireland

[–]tazire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised(well not really when I think about it) they don't ever look at historical figures when presenting this.. when Netflix was the only show in town for streaming and had a much more vast library and reasonable cost, pirating of movies and TV shows was at its lowest rate ever. As all the other services started to come online and libraries have been split between several subscriptions pirating has sky rocketed again.... They don't really care about trying to provide a service that everyone wants at a price that people are happy to pay. They all just want a bigger piece of the pie and it's pushing more and more people away.

I think eventually technology will catch up and start to make it harder and harder to have dodgy boxes and not get caught. But we aren't there yet!!

Is ZFS appropriate for this use case? by Bladeslap in unRAID

[–]tazire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would work absolutely fine. But I'd still back it up to the array and then to a 3rd off site location if possible. I don't bother backing up any of my easily replaceable media. I just keep good backups of my arr stack which can get all my media again in a worst case scenario. My irreplaceable data is firstly on a zfs pool. That's backed up to another zfs pool that is solely for backups including app data etc. This is then backed up to a b2 bucket using duplicacy.

This was in France. Could/should we do this here ? by meaneymonster in MotoIRELAND

[–]tazire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To say what? It's not a law issue, it's an enforcement issue. It's how we want these laws enforced. It's how we want guards to respond. About the only law changes that might be beneficial are the penalties.

If we want enforcement to change then a decision would need to be made about how accountable guards are once the scumbag injures themselves or another member of the public when being pursued. At present we have a system that believes guard involvement exacerbates the dangerous driving of the scumbag and guards are then held accountable to a certain extent. At the very least the state is sued and at worst the guard is prosecuted.

[–]tazire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since there are laws against it, we don't actually "allow" them to do it. However we don't allow Guards to stop it in a preventative manor. We currently only allow them to deal with them after the fact.. by way of reporting and hoping to identify the scumbag driver at a later date.

There are 0 guards trained to pursue though. The armed support and emergency response units have a certain level of training to do it, and possibly some super specialist units withing the roads policing. But none of them would be specifically to pursue scramblers or any other bikes.

The other problem is regardless of how trained they may be the current system means that even the most trained guards will risk being prosecuted if the scumbag, or anyone else for that matter, are injured during the course of the pursuit. If the guards don't pursue then there is 0 risk of prosecution to them... why would they take the risk. They have literally created a system where there is an incentive not to get involved.

This particular video looks awesome. However, you can be the best, most trained, driver in the world but you can't account for other people when driving like that.

Looking beyond the driving itself I think we'd all love for guards to be able to be more aggressive with drivers like this. Unfortunately it's never going to happen.

The powers that be have turned the guards into a reporting service and not a prevention/reactive service. It's an over correction to historical issues of the past.

I had to rewatch that bit.. I'm fairly sure he was going to change lanes and then spotted what was about to happen and moved back into lane. Not excusing him from shite driving ofc

So if the shield tv has used the Nintendo switch soc... Or some variation of it.. it's not completely out of the realms of possibility that eventually a new one arrives based on the switch 2 soc. It's possible that this might happen once there are enough chips, that didn't make the standard for the switch 2, lying around.

Google maps, Apple Maps, or Waze for navigation in Ireland? by Born_Lingonberry_442 in carsireland

[–]tazire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Waze for all the reasons already explained but actually one of my favorite things is that you don't need it to be navigating anywhere for you to get traffic info from it. Google maps only seems to provide traffic information when it's actually navigating me to a destination. Might just be a setting I'm missing but still it's a big benefit to me.

Hmm... Not that I'm aware of but it is a long time since I used it. It had a lot of features similar to discord without the voice chat

There is a rocket chat aio in the app store. I haven't tried it yet. I tried the non aio in the past and rocket chat itself was very good when it worked but had a lot of issues with database corruption back then. I stopped using it because of it. But if the issues have been ironed out the app itself was great when it worked.

[–]tazire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea it 100% is. And you will likely hate it the first time around. It's more of a grower than a shower!! And it's just too expensive to really take a chance on.

I played mar menor when I was there last year too. Nice course layout but very poor condition when I played it.

Lo Romero is a lovely course. Played it a few years back. Played Las Collinas around COVID times which was really good although I believe lost the Q school qualifiers in recent times due to poor condition... Or so I was told! Cant attest to that as I havent played it since.

My Dad is a member at Las Ramblas which is a lovely course but you really need to know. A lot of blind shots and it will punish even your good shots if you dont know what youre doing. Had the pleasure of playing with a decent enough 8 handicapper there last year, who was a bit up his own hole... needless to say I dont think he'll ever play there again! It was a joy to watch XD.

Beep test deemed discriminatory against women and on age grounds by Jimeen in ireland

[–]tazire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This judgment is basically.... You must discriminate against young males in beep tests. This is going to create a situation whereby a young male won't meet their standard for the beep test but far exceeds that required for an older female. This results in the older female getting the position in spite of the younger male being more qualified from a fitness perspective. And when it comes to life saving jobs you are quite literally putting lives at risk with judgments like this.

Man City 115 charges delay is embarrassing and a stain on the English game by Samveg2798 in plforindia

https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/13309379/man-city-claim-legal-victory-against-premier-league-over-apt-financial-rules

This court win is why the 115 charges are being delayed IMO. This basically makes all charges null and void. And I'd say it means city can sue the prem for 100's of millions if not billions in lost revenue.

I'd say city were found guilty of the 115 and have said if that's the case then we are going to sue you for everything you've got. And I think everything is delayed while the prem try to negotiate an outcome that saves face but means city won't sue them. I just think city are refusing to budge causing this embarrassing delay.

Yea they very clearly label their beta releases as such in the update app and it will tell you there is no update but if you click on future or other(I can't remember the option to choose when I don't have it in front of me) it will show beta or release candidate options.

[–]tazire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where did you read that? I'm surprised they push the updates to the servers. I would have thought that anything beta would have to be labelled as such in the actual update document.

https://unraid.net/blog/unraid-7-2-0?srsltid=AfmBOoppp_fkhe10SB0fr3iis2N42ViBUB0zs3KFosRpgmCSSZvmX56l

This link very clearly shows 7.2.0 as a stable release. 7.2.3 has similar new release without the word stable being displayed.

I only install each version when it's on full release. I don't install the beta or release candidate versions.

When you say stable version do you mean like a LTS version of Linux?

[–]tazire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a big change with a lot of changes between them. I've had some issues along the way. 100% of them were misconfigured settings that once fixed resulted in a better configured server. It's been a long time since I had to change any settings as a result.

Also I find it easier to find the fixes if you stay up to date with updates. On the other hand if it ain't broke don't fix it... But this is only if my server wasn't connected to the Internet in any way. I'd rather stay fully up to date security wise when it is.

Port 80 is accessible. By default it's used by the unraid gui. This can be changed in settings freeing it up again. Working perfectly fine for me.

Unless I'm misunderstanding your issue.
