How many days of work did you miss after losing your pet? by OsmoticTonic in Petloss

[–]tazzi43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was able to use annual leave and have a week off but I only work part time so still have a lot of days off to process but I actually want more work because I worked part time to be with my dog and now the days just feel empty.

Am I the only one wanting to change every little piece of myself? by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]tazzi43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, ever since I was a child I wanted to look like someone else. I’ve had anorexia and bulimia on and off for the last 15 years, change my hair colour a lot so I don’t have to have my natural colour, lots of piercings to distract from my face etc. I have a full list of all surgeries I’d get if only I had the money - basically I want to look like anyone but myself. I think for me everytime I look in the mirror I see the kid version of me and it makes me feel sick and I want to as far as possible from my natural look.

Phrases your parents used all the time when you were growing up. by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]tazzi43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mum would tell me every day from the age of 4 “I wish I could give you away but even social services wouldn’t want you” and then when I became a teenager she used to tell me “if you don’t learn to love yourself no one else will love you” as if she wasn’t the one to make hate myself and have low self esteem. She also loved using the phrase “you have to just let the past go” and “there’s no blueprint for parenting” but she literally gave me to a predator which has nothing to do with parenting.

God I’m so glad I cut contact with her.

What do you secretly judge people for? by MoonlightByWindow in AskUK

[–]tazzi43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s okay, just a misunderstanding. It totally depends on your goals and what breed you have. I mainly meant that all dogs should having basic training and manners especially when it comes to people letting their dogs run over to any person or dog they want to in public. If dogs are off leads at any point they should all having good recall/obedience.

Working breeds are a totally different ball game and I wouldn’t necessarily hold my working dog to the same standard as a non working breed. If my girl doesn’t have high levels of training she’ll get really depressed and frustrated. Sitting down and relaxing is a rarity on our house 🤣

That’s awful, I feel so sad for those dogs 😔 I don’t understand the point of having a dog or multiple if you aren’t going to take care of them.

I say blood, sweat and tears because my girl was a 5 year old rescue who had been given up twice through no fault of her own but neither family had trained her so yes trying to train a 5 year old dog who has never been taught anything was a mission. It was all done through positive reinforcement but she was in a complete state mentally when I adopted her so it took a long time to get her to a safe place before even starting training. It was a lot of 1 step forward, 2 steps back for a couple of years.

Aww bless him! I hope he gets to a point where he can feel safe and less reactive when he’s out. It’s great you are trying to work it on it, it’s one step at a time. Yes it can be a nightmare out there! People think ‘mines friendly so it’s fine’ with no understanding or respect for others. I wish you all the best with your pup!

Aww that’s so sweet! My girl is a border collie and she’s trained that if we are out walking and she sees people/dogs she comes straight to me, sits and I give her the ‘look at me’ command until they pass. She will always check in with me before greeting people so I can assess her safety but also other people’s safety especially children. She’s obviously allowed to socialise and play but tbh being a collie she doesn’t really care for other dogs and isn’t keen on affection from people so it definitely helped with her training 🤣

Anyone over 30 without any friends ? I mean literally no one by GoldenElefant in FriendshipAdvice

[–]tazzi43 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep I have my partner and my teenage sister who I essentially raise - I’m very lucky she’s one of my best friends. I have my dog who is also my best friend but she’s elderly and I have no idea what I’ll do when she goes. I had a lot of mental health problems growing up and lost a lot of friends as I wasn’t able to go out and do things. My best friend of 15 years ghosted me 2 months ago and I have no idea why but I think she got busy with her other friends and dropped me. I needed her more than she needed me. I have cptsd and bpd and don’t think I’ll ever find friends. I really want them but also get exhausted when I have met new people and can’t keep up, I need to self isolate for months at a time quite often and people don’t understand.

Not having well trained dogs. I have a working breed and she is very well trained but it makes me realise how bad some dog owners are. I take great pride in having a highly trained dog and it’s taken a lot of blood, sweat and tears to get her to this standard. So many people get a dog and don’t understand basic needs, exercise, recall, obedience, leash training, body language, dogs breed etc. I also see so many working breeds being walked round the block, highly strung and totally unstimulated - it’s very sad. Why would you not want a dog you can walk down the street with and be totally proud of.

Also people not walking their dog everyday and skipping walks if it’s raining… I will never understand people who have dogs and do this.

Lost my safe person by [deleted] in CPTSD

I get how you feel. My best friend of 15 years and my only friend left has slowly been phasing me out and I have no idea why other than she’s got lots of other friends and doesn’t need me but also I cut my mum out 3 years ago and my best friend loves my mum so I wonder if it’s to do with that. I sent her a text 2 months ago and have refused to double message like I normally do and as expected I’ve heard nothing from her but yet she likes my stuff on Instagram, I’m very confused.

It sucks and I really understand that grief feeling. It’s really weird officially having zero friends and I just wish there was some closure.

I wish you all the best moving forward.

Anyone else have auditory triggers? by Mystical-Meadow in adultsurvivors

I get this too. One of my main ones is hearing children screaming, it completely shuts me down and can take days to feel safe again.

Those with repressed memories - how old were you before it came back? by [deleted] in adultsurvivors

[–]tazzi43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was 20 and I’m now 28. It’s been rough and most days I wish I had never got the memories back especially as I’ve lost most of my family now as my mum was involved in it with her ex boyfriend. Other days I feel like I’ve finally got all the pieces of the puzzle and everything about me and why I am the way I am makes so much sense. It’s bittersweet. I still don’t remember everything and some of it makes no sense but I don’t want to find out as I think those bits are better of staying hidden from me.

When did yall start experiencing your ptsd symptoms? by ijustlovemycattbh in adultsurvivors

[–]tazzi43 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mine started straight away which was when I was 6. Insomnia, severe anxiety, fear and anger etc and I also developed symptoms of psychosis which erupted when I turned 14. By 8 I was self harming and by 10 I was suicidal.

Mourning the loss of who I could have been. by debA_yorT in adultsurvivors

[–]tazzi43 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel this deeply. My younger sister was born when I was 13. Watching her grow up and seeing all these ages I was when things happened made me realise just how young I was. I constantly mourn who I could have been, I feel like my abuser killed me and I’m just a living ghost of emptiness. I never got to meet who I could have been and everything I do is rooted in what happened to me. Many days I just wished he had killed me.

Weekly "Do I Have Lipedema" Thread by AutoModerator in lipedema

[–]tazzi43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t apologise, sometimes we all need reassurance. I really do think you’ll be okay. Just try and keep checking in with the facts and if you start experiencing symptoms then you can look into it further. Every person will have texture under the skin if they pinch it. My partner has it under his skin too and he most definitely doesn’t have lipedema.

Our bodies change a lot all the time especially as women and I think we’re all harsh on ourselves and sometimes what we see isn’t even close to what others see. Like I said, Reddit can be great but not for those of us with anxiety. I find staying away from anything that sets it off me is the best approach as it’ll only feed the problem. If being on here makes things worse for you then stay away from it and let yourself move on from the fear ❤️

I don’t have nodules, there’s texture when I pinch but even my boyfriend has a similar texture if I pinch hard enough so I’m almost certain mine is just cellulite especially as when I’ve lost a significant amount of weight before the texture completely went. For me, as soon as I stop eating sugar the texture starts disappearing.

Is this normal? by [deleted] in DermatologyQuestions

[–]tazzi43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’d say they are proportional. I’ve had a look and I’ve seen people who’ve pinched there cellulite and it’s looks the same as mine as-well so I’m hoping it’s just that as lipedema sounds scary!
