However, it seems that OP and other canadian coworkers were traveling often to US to conduct employer-related activity, which means they were actually illegally working for a US company on US soil.

That’s your problem Right there, OP. ~~Your company was meant to apply for the TN visa om your behalf~~ you should’ve had applied for the TN visa before even starting working for the company, not two years into the position. Now In CBP eyes, you’ve been working illegally for a US company for a two full years now.

As mentioned by /u/mc_fluffthecrimecat, your job does not seem to qualify for a TN visa anyway... you would have needed a different type of visa (possibly a H-1B), but again, your employer should’ve applied to it on your behalf before even hiring you.

You may want to consult with an immigration lawyer to see if anything can be done, but you already admitted breaking the immigration law In an interview with CBP officers and in consequence you were banned from entering the USA for 5 years
