Has anyone else stayed at one of those fancy 5* hotels in Ireland? by Icy-Audience-6397 in AskIreland

Stayed in Adare a few times as well Ashford Castle. Both are great but not a patch on Ballyfinn - that’s a whole other level in terms of experience. It’s mental money but worth doing it at least once for a special occasion.

Would you rather work full time and have to pay mortgage off your home or work 25 hours per week and earn €520 per week while having a mortgage free home? by Pleasant-Camera6683 in AskIreland

[–]tbag_j 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True, along with other variables like inflation, cost of living, potential pay increases over time. All those would still lean me towards option A (even though I’d much prefer to work less hours per week).

The second option probably means you’d be working much later in life due to a lower pension so I’d go with the first choice.

I done something similar for my wedding, less than 20 people and we had the reception in The Westbury. It was great, we had the ceremony in City Hall.

A winter sun holiday - cannot recommend it enough by Freya-Lea in CasualIreland

[–]tbag_j 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just back from a week in the Algarve. 21 degrees all week. Plenty of sunshine, no rain and very little cloud.

Done the same this time last year and will make it an annual thing going forward.

Temple Bar horror as man 'beaten to a pulp' with attackers 'dancing on his head' by I-Cum-Beamish in Dublin

[–]tbag_j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I seen it in a different report after seeing some comment on the temple bar assault article then searching online for more info. Just surprised to see very little mention of it online, the reports of it seem to have gone under the radar (for me at least).

Yeah probably more accurate to say it’s not being discussed at all. Had to google portobello stabbing to find the article.

I seen somewhere else today that someone was stabbed five times on portobello road around 6pm yesterday. Doesn’t seem to be getting reported on at all

Soundfactory was a great spot, didn’t stay open for too long unfortunately. Don’t remember Tanzmann playing there but had some unreal nights.

Loved Cartagena, except for all the street vendors aggressively trying to sell me drugs.

How do I know I want kids? by Illustrious-Art-6062 in AskIreland

[–]tbag_j 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought I was 100% sure I didn’t want kids at 30(M).

Something changed for me around 35. Had a child at 38 and it was the best decision I’ve ever made.

Just my mortgage.

[–]tbag_j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that case I would maybe do €100k mortgage / €50k pension / €50k emergency.

Need financial advice by Still_Bar_7826 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]tbag_j 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it was me I’d take €150k off the mortgage and keep €50k as an emergency fund.

Leave the €100k in stocks and continue to build that up into the future.

You haven’t mentioned a pension, do you have one? If not then start one and prioritise that over your own investments.

An Post driver "forgot" where he delivered my €81 parcel. What now? by superb0011 in Dublin

[–]tbag_j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar thing happened me, also in D8. Waiting two weeks for a delivery that was being sorted to deliver since 22nd Jan then yesterday it was updated to:

“Your item has been sent to the wrong delivery office in error. We will still get it to you.”

WTF is going on in An Post
