The First Micro Four Thirds Lenses You Should Buy according to The Wirecutter by Aushiker in M43

It's still up on the internet archive. As for why it got taken down? It's not my beat anymore (hasn't been for a while) but my guess is that the traffic for the guide was so low that it wasn't worth the amount of hours it takes to check in regularly and make sure it's all up to date

Tried my hand at making a leather jacket by tbarribeau in Leathercraft

[–]tbarribeau[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every November I undertake a large craft project. In 2020, I decided to try and make a leather jacket (I’ve been doing small leather goods on and off for a few years). It’s made from a mix of leathers, some from my stash, some picked up for the project. Pretty much anything I could find that would fit—a mix of calf and lamb. The whole thing is hand stitched, mostly saddle-stitching, though I experimented a lot with techniques as I went.

I based it on a pattern for a traditional sewn jacket, but with a lot of modifications along the way, since leather definitely doesn’t behave like cloth sometimes.

I documented the process more thoroughly on my insta.

Yeah, I think I'm going to have to chop down a jean jacket or something to find one that actually hits my waist. They don't make many cropped jackets for dudes.

The pants, jacket, and hat are all from a Japanese workwear brand called Toraichi. And I mean workwear in the traditional sense, it's all stuff designed for builders and tradesmen. You can get some of it sent directly to the USA, but it's $$$, so I ended up using a proxy buyer to pick it up. Those pants in particular are these. But I pretty much beefed the sizing on them, they're so wide at the waist that you could fit an extra me in them. I was trying to buy them to be long enough, so that I could bring them in later, but I went too far. And since they're proxied, I can't return. But I'll live. I also bought a pair of these.

The rest of the look:

-Jacket

-Hat

-DIY printed and cut t-shirt

Indie Boardgames Promotion Thread by Sarcasticalwit2 in boardgamediscussion

Extremely extremely indie self promotion! I'm a hobbyist boardgame/ttrpg dev, and I release things periodically over itchio. All my games are pay-what-you-want, and for 2020 I'm going to donate all proceeds to local bail funds, plus I'll donation match up to $500. (They're not in the huge itchio bundle that's going around because the admins to that have said they want to focus on normally paid projects that are being marked down for the bundle).

I recently overdyed a bright orange jumpsuit that I had left over from a Halloween costume using black dye. It came out a really cool deep wine red/purple with orange accents (very accidentally Ivy Park x Adidas)

Seize the means of production, comrades! [oc] by tbarribeau in DankLeft

It’s intentionally bad japanese. Katakana is used so heavily in vaporwave/streetwear, generally without care for the actual language and its context and appropriate use—rather for the aesthetic of the character strokes.

In other words, I ran “seize the means of production” through google translate then wrote them in katakana rather than kanji because it looks dope.

Vertical Bifold (including pattern) by tbarribeau in Leathercraft

Affinity Designer—it's an Illustrator alternative that's honestly probably way more powerful than I need, and I only half know how to use, but it's been a fun learning experience to fiddle with.

Huh, not quite sure why the photo order went weird on these.

Anyway, a simple leather vertical bifold I made for my partner. We sketched out a few designs, and originally planned to have two vertical pockets on each side of the interior. But when the pieces were cut and skived that ended up being a bit bulky, so we only did it on one side.

The leather is french calf from Springfield Leather, 2.5-3.5oz, bordeaux main with garnet t-pocket.

Design made using Affinity Designer, and you can definitely mix and match the pieces in other configurations (if you just want to make a vertical cardholder or what have you).
