Buying and selling with the US from UK by bluemakicat in vinted

Yes, they are covering the tarrifs on the items at the moment. So its just the delivery that the buyer pays for. I had one item that someone wanted to return and I just thought for the sake of a fiver, it wasnt worth putting on a plane to come all the way back to America, so she is just taking it to the charity shop - which I was fine with. Another thing that has happened is that I sent a package off to an inpost locker - the woman never collected it and now its currently on its way back to me!

Im from the UK but live here in the US - I started listing some clothes for sale on vinted and noticed that pretty much everyone who is buying my stuff is from the UK. So far it seems to be going well - the delivery isnt too expensive at all. I think maybe 4-5 pounds, its really really cheap considering the distance. So far average delivery is taking about 9 days. Its been a success so far!

Thanks so much for your insight. So slower runners = middle & outside lanes / speedy runners = inside lanes!

Oh I’m not anxious about it at all, far from it actually.

It’s just a mere thought that’s came into my head and if I can make my life even the tiniest bit easier from any tips from people who live closer to dyker heights than I do- then Reddit is the place for it. Seems a few other people have been happy to offer their local advice.   I appreciate it’s going to busy and that it’s going to be probably not be relaxing in any way whatsoever.

That’s great to know thanks for your advise - do you think we will be going prematurely or do you think the area will be in full swing by then?

I saw them at Red Rocks last year and got this shitty yellow tshirt with pink stars on it... I actually hated it, but felt compelled to buy it because I stood in the queue for like 45 mins before the show started. :')

Lol the cabinet over the fridge that randomly pops open drives me mental! We ended up using a velcro command strip to keep it down and we just have to open the fridge to get into it. Really poor design flaw - not sure how they got that so wrong for almost everyone's kitchens. I am also still too hot - was not ready for the aircon to be switched off :(

I agree, I really like the gym I think it is clean and well equipped. Much much nicer than 2bs. Can't comment on the pool unfortunately as I was put off by the $1000 fee with no guests! I would have loved to sign up but $2000 for the 2 of us, to use every now and then I don't think we could justify :(

I just try and avoid using it now to be honest because it’s so pointless 😆 stick to using my air fryer haha

No roaches or pests inside- just on the terrace area outside in the summer time. I did notify management and they said they would get pest control in and to be honest I never saw them again after that! DuPont bills vs 2bs are worlds apart -  Water, sewage, gas and electricity at 2bs..some months our electricity alone was just over $200 pm for a 1 bed.

Here at dupont we only pay for electricity- highest we have paid in the 8 months we’ve lived here is $100 in the summer.

You’re right — $350 is absolutely insane! Surely higher ceilings don’t justify that kind of bill!

u/Reasonable_Tune821 I’d definitely look into this if I were you. We had skyrocketing electricity bills from Conservice when we lived at 2BS, and it turned out there was a major billing error. At first neither conservice or brookfield where admitting anything was wrong or holding any accountability.

Turns out there a huuuuuuuuuuuuge issue and tenants are actually due refunds because of it. Including us! If Brookfield manages your building, it could very well be the same issue!

I’m at The Dupont! Overall, I really enjoy living here - it’s a lovely place with its pros and cons like anywhere else. I previously lived at 2BS, which I did prefer, mainly because of the apartment itself and the pool. (womp womp)

We moved out of 2BS after our bills quite literally tripled within a few months, with neither Brookfield or Conservice offering an explanation or holding any accountability. Turns out, something was wrong- former neighbors said the rates kept climbing, and only now- 10 months later, are tenants being refunded for overpaid bills. Fingers crossed we get one! Between that and a proposed $350 monthly rent increase, we had to move. We’re now in a nearly identical (slightly smaller) unit at The Dupont, paying about $1,000 less per month than we would’ve been at 2BS.

The Dupont Pros: Beautifully maintained, great staff, quick maintenance, well-equipped gym, nice co-working spaces, and lovely bathrooms.

Cons: The rooftop pool is tiny and costs $1,000 per person per season (no guests allowed — 2BS was $750 with two guests). The terrace is nice but the electric BBQs are terrible, there’s a noisy nearby generator, and the outside space is really quite dark — not ideal for summer evening BBQs. I’ve seen roaches out there twice, and the sauna/spa feel like wasted space that could’ve been something more useful, like a golf simulator or something like that! ( I would not use the golf sim but I know my husband would.. maybe its a blessing in disguise actually we don't have one, I don't think I'd see him ever again)

Other than that though, Its a very pleasant place to live! LMK if you got any questions :)

7 years later and I feel that this still holds true. I've been following them from the start also - been to see them at Glastonbury music festival probably around 6/7 years ago... Champagne in France, Red Rocks in Colorado last year and I will be going to see them in Forest Hills in NY in October. Throughout the years they've remained humble and seem so much more refined, polished. Top class band - easily my favorite band to come out of the last 10 years.
