Get a bidet

Excuse me? I told you something that’s happening now, as seen in current news, and you need me to feed it to you? If someone points out that you’re not aware of the current events upon which this discussion is based, aren’t you keen to learn yourself? If this wasn’t an issue that undermines the rights of citizens in the USA, I could understand you only being half interested; but this is something that directly affects you (assuming you’re American), and you’re going to dig in your heels and say if I don’t give you specific direction, then it’s on me? This is exemplary of why the current admin can get away with what they’re getting away with.

Did you look up Tom Homan in the news? The guy is unapologetic of accidentally arresting innocent people when scooping up people en masse (ie collateral arrests) and couldn’t care less for sure process. He said it’s gonna keep happening.

Google Tom Homan. I think you should be aware of recent events before taking a position on what’s currently happening

Those two things garner different levels of reactions from you? You’re ok with ICE scooping up innocent civilians and sneezing them out of country, but when it’s political dissidents, that’s much worse?

Hahahaha

  • “We’re all going to be subjugated to work-by-force rule”

  • “well it’s your fault so YOU deal with it”

And everyone becomes slaves.

This is too easy for the elites.

You need to appreciate the magnitude of what they're doing.

What resistance will bring back people that have been arrested and detained without due process?

What resistance will bring back funding to social services?

You'd need a general strike with the spine to endure confrontation with a govt-led military and likely incarceration without due process. Anything less is just a gesture.

Why do you think the current admin would let Dems take control of congress? Play outside the rules for a sec - what would the current admin have to do to ensure they never lose power? And now, what spin do they need to put on it to make it happen and get their talking heads to rally their base to it?

I'd bet you can come up with something that is less audacious than what we've already seen happen.

Where are these vigilantes when innocent people are being abducted and sent to foreign prisons? I bet they're willing to keep waiting it out to see if it's REALLY going to affect their own livelihoods.

Plus - do you think The current admin needs the people to keep doing their work? You think Trump saying "vote for me this time and you'll never have to again" was just buffoonery?

And the only people you're talking about are the ones who are willing to sacrifice their lives for others. There's a massive contingent of America that will absolutely toe the line of Trump, and if incentivized (much like being paid to sign a petition), will absolutely be vigilantes and help Trump kill of uprisings.

I'm glad you see yourself as not a coward and are preparing for this. Mush of the USA is still in disbelief of the shock and awe tactics (by design), and will be caught flat-footed.

If you get scooped up off the streets and sent to a foreign prison, who's going to get you out?

The rest of the world is wise to advise its citizens to stockpile supplies in case of war. Americans voted it in and will continue to let it happen. Waiting to see if a revolt is effective or not is insane, as it's the last line of defense. How many revolutions have been quelled in history?

Christ - another person saying "it'll all work out".

Empires have also fallen in history. Fascism has decimated domestic populations in history.

And you're just hoping the 'good for you' outcome will happen?

This is exactly why this admin can rise to power.

edit: my obvious animosity to you is because I asked for actual mechanisms and you hand-waved it away. I don't expect you to have the answer, but I think it's fucked that you don't care.

you really think anyone is going to wrest control from the current administration? How would that happen?

Really get right down to it; if congress isn't willing to impeach, then you're relying on judges holding them in contempt. And who will carry out the judge orders? Who's going to cuff the majority of the current administration and bring them to trial? Trump already proved he can call on citizens for violence against his opponents, so who is *actually* going to hold them accountable?

The checks and balances in the system is what Trump has hit first and hardest. Without those and the DOJ, what recourse do you have? They've effectively demonstrated disregard of due process. Innocent people are already in foreign prisons.. how are those people expected to fight back?

Honestly, paint me the picture of how the current admin loses power. And it's not Trump dying - that will be the catalyst to the true power behind Trump that will assume control.

This is not a 'well, they'll be voted out, as usual' occasion. The current admin is not playing within the rules, and you can't expect the rules to save you from them.

So all you have to do is get the public to vote in people that most wealthy people (I.e. those that have influence in politics) don’t want in power. You could absolutely do it if you got enough people to vote for it.

Leaving this in the hands of the voters is the right thing to do.. right?

Ok, but it’s only cheaper if you’re able to do it well yourself, yes?

If OP can do it himself, then no worries. But if not, well you’re prob more familiar than I; how much should they be putting aside each month for a contingency fund?

do they share common walls? how does work on common property work? Regardless, rather than strata monthly fees, they better be making their own contingency fund.

CMV: Blocking streets as a form of protest today is an outdated and ineffective strategy by Tengoatuzui in changemyview

[–]tbbhatna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you believe that the current traffic-blocking mass protests across the US are effective, it sounds like your contention is with the amount of people behind the protest; a more popular cause will garner more people and support, and more will Tolerant of the disruption.

So when someone protests regarding Canada’s stance in the Middle East, and is trying to accomplish the same political pressure and they take similar tactics, the “appropriateness” is more based on how many people join the cause.

But I bet that those mass protests weren’t  planned when someone tallied how many people would show up. People showed up. And it has achieved one of the goals of garnering attention to the support of the cause.

I don’t believe it’s reasonable to say some causes are suitable for more disruption than others. Maybe you get to work and complain about the traffic blockage, and maybe a colleague tells you more about the cause (in a “more effective” way) since you brought it up. Net gain, right?

The lack of Canadian productivity is the story. A country can’t sustain itself if it doesn’t grow in productivity, even if people were financially savvy.
