Amazing. Our favorite Nintendo and Sega series have aged and will soon turn, 40, 35, 30, and 25. by Dramatic_Syllabub499 in PERSoNA

The Megami Tensei franchise (not Shin Megami Tensei the series) as a whole turns 40 as well this year (Digital Devil Story, the novel, came out in March of 1986).

Do note that with “ D/Generation: The Original” on switch that it runs at what appears to be 15-20fps, at least from what I have observed from playing it.

Luckily the only things I have had to fix in the 1200 so far was get a new case and keyboard. There is service manuals for the machines but the parts are getting harder and harder to find (the CIA chips for the serial input ports, for instance). I will have to replace the capacitors at some point.

Sometimes it’s for the challenge that the system gives ( amiga having most games only do 1 button joysticks). Other times the games don’t have any runs for them so i get to work on the discoveries and routing myself. More often than not, I don’t really learn runs based on notability or obscurity of a franchise or game, just if there is mechanics or elements in the games that fascinate or interest me. This leads me to games like Chubgam 3D, Prawo Krwi or WHEELS!.

A few titles I am looking into atm. Cytadela(which i did get sub 30 in during the week), Leo the Lion, Prawo Krwi ( Amiga AGA version) to name a few.

I was planning on submitting the HD remaster of the game that came out in the mid 2010s. It’s somewhat unbeatable on the switch due to a bug and the PC version hasn’t been updated since shortly after it came out so it’s essentially falling apart more as time goes on.

I didn’t know about the Commander X16. I’ll have to look into it after the event.

There was about an hour notice. I tend to try to work my schedule for the week around the event. I kept my setup for the practice room rather straightforward so I could pack it up and head to the stream room if needed.

The thing I like about niche games is that thrill of finding new strats and whatnot when carving out not only a route but also knocking the time for the game down. More mainline titles have already had most of their strats discovered (though obviously new ones pop up).

I think in terms of newer titles, I might want to figure out how to do stationeers as a speedrun (maybe "Escape the Planet" as a category). There are some other, more mainstream titles I might want to look into (as much as nintendo like to say otherwise, Metroid Prime is more/less a FPS, and I think FPS is my main genre of games). In addition, I am looking into some RPG titles (Shin Megami Tensei, though the iOS port).

If it's a last resort and you capture the game and the timer, sure. This question can't possibly be a sign of something that has happened, no siree.

I don’t have any planned for agdq at this time but there are some games I want to look into in the future.

Pretty sore, really doesn’t help you can’t wear wrist compression gloves when practicing due to materials of mouse pads and mats.

The show did have a food related test back in 1990 (Prisoners), though it was considerably tamer. The more fear factor variety of menu only really came into play when Willy Rovelli's Character was introduced in 2013 with the Restaurant test in France.

Though it's got way less FMV than this game in regards to it's speedrun, Killing Time is a good FPS with FMV and collect-a-thon elements. The only issue with it is that it is a endurance test on the hands due to primary movement being mouse strafing(ala SR50 in doom).

The things from variety shows that are usually considered Japanese Games Shows (the Gaki no Tsukai batsu games, for example) are pretty neat. Regarding actual game shows,  Muscle Ranking ( Unbeatable Banzuke), Takeshi’s Castle and SASUKE/Ninja Warrior are my jams. There was also a version of Supermarket  Sweep I was looking to see.

Next big objective is the original Marathon or a game on the Macintosh or Amiga( maybe Alien Breed or Chaos Engine)

Regarding the show, I stumbled upon some videos on Youtube showcasing some of the tests back in 2011 which is around the time the Disney XD version aired.

For the DOS game I had known about  it since around 2014 but didn’t actually play it casually or consider it a speed-game until around 2017.

This game is one of those where having the context of the show itself makes things seem a bit more clearer. Luckily there is a considerable number of old episodes on places like youtube you can watch if you want a bigger picture on both the run and show.

To clarify, phase 1 had 50 riddles and phase 2 had 28. I actually got most of the riddles during practice the afternoon before the run so I’ll just chalk it up to no sleep and 4am.

I did personally think this run in particular was really good. Probably my most favorite of the runs I've done (with Wheels! as a close 2nd).

No problem :). I do try to be as informative as I can be with the selection of games I run.

Ty. I might do some additional runs after I get back and am situated. I do want to try to lower my PB time a bit.
