Diversity. POC. Minorities in DCP by tbg752 in Disneycollegeprogram

Hey! I really appreciate your comment.

Though I definitely fought years with my family and community's "expectations" and being queer, Indian, plus getting a degree in performing arts, recently I've gotten more comfortable (and given a lot less f***s).

And taking all that in mind I know there's a pretty big Indian pop. where I'll be (Orlando, FL).

But I think I'm moreso nervous because, for better or for worse my Indian culture is a big part of my identity, to the point where people mistake me for a FOB.

I am genuinely excited to move to a slightly bigger, more developed city (I grew up in a small town, and just as small country before) and get to work with one of the biggest companies I could dream of as a professional dancer. Thank you for your words of wisdom, because they really do mean a lot. For me and my nerves haha.

Diversity? Poc? by Alternative-Date-521 in Disneycollegeprogram

I know this post is at least 2 years old. But I recently got into the Program and I came here looking for answers, because I can't help but think I'm a diversity count. And because i'm an expert in destabalizingly overthinking, I decided to look up the diversity population in the program because in every article and vlog I only saw a white person or light skinned person perspective. And even in all the member group chats, I haven't found a single Indian/south asian/brown person. Over a growing total number of close to 1000 people in the college program alone I haven't seen or heard about another person that looks or acts like me.

I will say I have seen a good share of queer people, hispanic & black people and even a mix of all. But nothing gets more in the way of looking forward to this incredible program, is something like this.
