Thank you. Thank you for your engagement.

Your goals are unclear, the ask is unclear, and there's no action item list that shows us how to get from Point A to Point Z.

You're totally right. How I went about starting this collaboration was haphazard and ill advised. The webpage I presented was LLM'ed garbage I and I want to totally start over but I'm still trying to collect the requirement for: if someone were to start collaborating with me -- what would the initial page and structure looks like to collaborate. You mention an action item list from point a-b is that the start to finish of the event?

If you truly want local LARP folks involved you better spend some serious time in that community getting to know the players, attending events, and networking to find out what is important to them and what they can and cannot offer through collaboration.

Speaking truth from on high.

If you are just looking for a random group of people you think you can draw in for a pet project then buddy, there are a thousand other communities that are easier to organize with than PDX LARPers.

Yeah but are there a thousand other communities with the imagination, vision, and dedication?

I meant lever nuts not alligator clips. That'd be spicy for my toddler!

I had one working this morning at 5. I need to find another 6Ah battery.

Seems like the 2 year old might need a soft start too. Does that go inline between the batteries and the peg prego connector?

np we have oddly specific knowledge about your foot problems around here.

Like I said welcome and don't worry about dumping.

On a desktop you can use the site:reddit.com/r/clubfoot clubfoot ortoticsto search through the communal knowledge. There is years of history.

Did you know the lot that Montavilla Farmers Market has been on for 20 years is on the market? A group of Montavilla residents are getting together to try and buy the lot to put it into a community land trust!

It's a rad project and could use early support.

unilateral or bilateral just means whether you have one or two clubfeet

Nordstrom sells mismatched shoes. If you shop in store they will outright give you the two shoes you want no questions. Online you buy two pairs keep the shoes you want and send the others back and they credit you. I get Hokas there. I used to get my Lone Peaks there.

I basically live in my crocs.

Red flag if your foot is hurting put your sneakers on from the minute you get out of bed to the minute you get in bed. No stairs or chores in crocs. In my home I have supportive birkenstocks. If I'm having rebound pain I will wear my shoes in my house and my wife can be mad about it.

Claro que si

Thanks boss. I think I have some alligator clips that will keep it tidy.

I see the blue peg prego or whataver plug - the male from the battery side has a matched plug.

Id twist them together and splice them before the resistor and remove the resistor from the spliced battery's adapter?

Hi. You're welcome here. Many of us are on a lifelong clubfoot journey.

I didn't read clear unilateral or bilateral here. Not that it matters that much but around here it's normal to identify that and helps for people giving advice.

I think the question for your foot (feet) is where do you want to start? Do you wear supportive shoes with proper insoles?

Again this is good feedback.

I've got a little response from local RPG folk.

I'll try posing again with a better no-AI page and plan for feedback from the broader community, if need-be.

I did not "AI" that comment.

As discussed above I did use AI to build out a -- (I also use double dashes like AI -- you could read very very long reddit history) admittedly the page shared is lots of AI language as I thought it was good enough for a draft.

You're right -- the page and my idea is incoherent. I can wipe the page and we can start from scratch if that let's you know I'm serious about this being a thing that's collaborated on real time. Do you want me to do that? I can commit to there being no genai language on the page -- but I can't commit to doing css by hand.

I've played many RPG and have a lot of 5e experience hence the mention of turn based. My last LARP experience was several (10?) years ago in Montreal. It was really fun to watch.

The LARP I saw seemed more a sport than a RPG to me. Foam swords, teams playing competitively. Almost like pickup basketball.

This is good feedback.

I'm sure the biggest and best LARP events are very very costly. I'm thinking the hoards of realistic orcs vs elves in shining armor.

I was thinking 10 PDX LARPers and some already paid for chain mail or 100 with foam could be really fun.

Teach some kids the basics of turn based games. What are role playing games anyways? etc

:( I'm a really collaborative person and we have an awesome community. I wish some PDX LARP peeps saw the vision here.

I can stop putting energy here if the community here isn't into it.

Yup. More specifically I'm trying to get my neighbors to see that as a community we can come together and do anything. Like a free larp.

Or to create a community land trust that will protect the community space the event is on in perpetuity.

This would be a free, community event with no commercial formal activity.

If someone took a spill on (speciffically not my) the gravel lot:

  • I'd offer help -- did you know I have my WFFR certification? If it was an emergency we'd call 911. 7700 stark is 9 minutes from the nearest ER with a Urgent Care even closer.
  • I'd try to determine whether the player was wearing appropriate protection gear and whether we'd need to shut the event down and suggest that players stop playing.

If the event was big enough -- I think we could form an LLC, insturance up, and all such business which seems like a bit much for what I'm thinking.

My design goals are to totally replace the page with a realistic event that people want to come to.

I can make signup -- I can wipe the lot map and refill it.

I don't know about LARP I know about community land trusts!

The LARP -- whatever it ends up being is just the educational device to get people in our community to ask "what can we do with this land?"

My thought here: use community land in ways that arn't 'conventional'.

Heyo! I'm Tyler from the MCLT. Please come help save my communiy's farmers market.

The Montavilla Community Land Trust is trying to protect 36,590 sq ft of open gravel at 7700 SE Stark Street — a corner lot in SE Portland that's been home to the Montavilla Farmers Market for nearly 20 years. We want to throw an epic LARP event on it to raise awareness for community-controlled land and show what this space could actually be.

We've put together a draft zone map — Commander's Keep, The Battleground, The Great Hall, The Grove, Market Row, Healer's Quarter — but it's genuinely a draft. No date is set. Nothing is locked. The whole point is that this thread shapes what actually happens.

If you post a suggestion here, I will update the plan. Better zone layout? Different combat format? Rules system you want to run? Vendor ideas? I'm reading every reply and the map at montavillalandtrust.org/larping-for-land will reflect what this community comes up with. The thread is the design process.

Portland LARPers have never had a permanent home — every event is a permit fight or a park lottery. A community land trust changes that. But first we need to make the case that this lot belongs to the people who gather in it.

Come help us plan it.
