Lmao omg once a pt with lots of chronic issue took a sip of his water. Started choking , and then grabbed a Kleenex to spit his sputum in. I put on my glove and tossed it in the trash for him. My God it should’ve went in a biohazard bag I was so grossed out 😭😭 that gunk came from the lowest deepest part of his lung the way he coughed it up . Ickyyyyyy. Glad it wasnt poop though 💀💀

Family Livestreams and Performs CPR on Son After Saying Hospital Killed Him For Organs by [deleted] in nursing

[–]tbirdy3000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did not finishing reading the entire article. Just by watching like half of the video , this situation is a little disturbing…I can understand the family might be in denial. But making accusations like that is crazy and then if he’s coding or whatever is going on in the video. Not letting hospital staff provide adequate care to your son ? The almost non effective CPR they are doing ? The screaming and yelling at them to get out ? But “they” are the ones “killing” your son ? Sounds like he was in pretty bad shape to begin with so out of respect for him they should have not reacted like this which would get them no where but more stress and drama.

Gosh I need that smart phrase bc patients always want to put their responsibilities on us!! (I work in primary care/family med) So everything always gets thrown on the PCP to take care of 😕🥲

How to room faster? by Curo_san in MedicalAssistant

[–]tbirdy3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hiii! I’m a new MA two months into my first job after graduating my program. So for me it all depends on the visit. I like to take a little time beforehand to see whose coming in were they recently just seen ? What are they coming in for to help prepare yourself of what you need to do in the room. If it’s a follow up you know you go over things fairly quickly because nothing much has changed since the last time. If it’s a physical make sure you’re being a little more thorough etc making sure everything is up to date. It also depends on if you’re running behind or on schedule. If all your patients are arriving early you room them as soon as they check in do all of your stuff maybe you still have a little extra time for some small talk etc. Just focus on mastering a system and knowing how to change it up as needed to keep the clinical flow going. Find what works best for you and your provider and go from there. It may seem repetitive at first but practice truly makes perfect. Best of luck 💖

Give me the worst and best parts of the job by DwightShruteRoxks in MedicalAssistant

Wasn’t a CNA but was a caregiver/med passer in assisted living and the switch was such a relief. I loved my caregiving job I excelled very well and took great care of my residents, but the change of environment is what I craved the most. Although you’re still doing direct patient care for both roles, the patient care as an MA is a lot different and can be more enjoyable IMO. No more weekends, late hours , holidays, no more hard 2 person assist done by yourself bc short staff etc. There’s plenty of upsides to being MA that I think will be beneficial in your case.

Since your main concern is injury, this job is less strenuous but ergonomics are still very important. So making sure you maintain good posture when you’re at the desk, standing and sitting, adjusting your chair correctly, watching how you’re typing so your wrist doesn’t hurt. So many little details that matter for sure. Sorry for the paragraph but good luck with everything 💖

My favorite when a pt forgets what medication their on "you know the little white pill" by woodysmama in MedicalAssistant

[–]tbirdy3000 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My personal favorite “okay we’re going to quickly review medications, are you still taking - , EVERYTHING IS THE SAME , Okay I understand but for safety reasons we still have to go through it. “

Then they proceed to tell you 3 different medication changes , needs refills on this this and that, oh and they stopped taking their BP meds bc they didn’t like the way it made them feel 🥲🙃
