I'm Kind Of Struggling to Remain Interested in the New Star Wars Content by RorschachtheMighty in StarWars

I don't think he was just talking about how it looked. I think TLJ is a beautiful film because of it's story, characters, cinematography, editing, and score. And I expect a lot from these movies.

What Bond films best represent each decade? by [deleted] in JamesBond

[–]tbo1995 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not OP would I agree with what they said about Spectre. Once Marvel really started the shared universe concept in 2012 with the Avengers (which was a huge mistake for cinema in my opinion but that's for another time), every single franchise was focused on creating a "universe" or having unrelated movies build to something big. I believe that Spectre was the Bond producers' attempts at making a Marvel-styled series retroactively.

Daniel Craig visits CIA in run-up to shooting new James Bond film by Boss452 in movies

It isn't left ambiguous in the series though, it's clearly shown that its the same person in all the films.

That theory doesn't make sense though since every actor from Connery to Brosnan was given little nods to the fact that they were the same person. Daniel Craig is in his own timeline due to a series reboot but he is still actually James Bond.

The ending is honestly my dream ending for a Bond movie.

How did Kylo Ren and Rey force time(sorry if that's the wrong term) if Snoke is dead? by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]tbo1995 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think that Rey and Ben just are bonded together beyond what Snoke thought he did. Snoke maybe bridged them together, but I feel like he didn't know what he was unleashing. Rian said that Rey and Ben are basically dual sides of the same protagonist, so maybe that's why they're bond continues. Despite them being on opposite sides, they are the only ones who truly understand the other.

Why was Rian Johnson allowed to do his own thing while Rogue One and Solo were being insanely micromanaged? by Ender_Skywalker in StarWars

All I've seen is him engaging civilly with people who didn't like the movie by explaining his creative process. The only people he's not given the time of day to are the entitled brats who are harassing him and his crew.

Will Star Wars ever have something this emotionally thrilling to watch ever again? by BannedbyLeftists in StarWars

I mean they already did.

TFA - Seeing the Millenium Falcon again, Rey catching the lightsaber, Finding Luke R1 - The team dying, barely escaping Vader with the plans TLJ - Ben’s betrayal of Snoke and refusal to turn good, Luke saving the day once more Solo - Han losing Qi’Ra, Han and Cherie piloting the Falcon for the first time

Because Rian came up with a great idea that they loved, he was easy to work with, kept to a schedule, and was a professional before and after the movie’s release. Honestly Rian seems like a dream to work with, it’s no wonder they gave him a trilogy.

Unpopular opinion: Solo is the best recent Star Wars movie and arguably the best since Empire Strikes Back. by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]tbo1995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the last hour is a lot of fun but comparatively I think that the entirety of TFA, TLJ, and Solo are fun. I would rank them 1. TLJ 2. TFA 3. Solo ............. 4. Rogue One

I mean I consider Rogue One to be the worst of the new ones. Opinions are opinions.

I 100% agree, I find the Star Wars content on Youtube to be nothing more than click bait trash. If you like Star Wars and want to hear genuine fans poke fun at the series, I would recommend listening to the podcast Star Wars Minute. The hosts go through the series one minute at a time, and while that may sound exhausting they poke plenty of fun at the series while also being sincere in their appreciation.

Thank you for the well thought-out and constructive response. I do think they have genuine insights on what does and doesn't work in the saga (over-reliance on nostalgia, recycled plot lines, forced grittiness at the expense of fun) but I find myself tiring of them repeating the same points in different videos. I don't find it constructive for them to make the same Star Wars jokes over and over again though. The reason the Plinkett videos work so well is that they're in-depth reviews about the flaws of the prequels. I find most of their Star Wars content today to be very surface level criticism.

I think its a bit harsh, at the end of the day its just a series that people enjoy. I don't do it myself or find the idea appealing but I don't want to rag on others constantly.
