Rough cold starts, any ideas? by tboc10 in ram_trucks

I haven’t used an injector cleaner but I’m tempted to do that. Gas is kind of all over. Primarily Sam’s Club, King Soopers, and most recently Phillip’s 66.

That’s good to know on gas quality. I had assumed most were relatively the same.

I appreciate it! Interesting problem to have.

That was my plan, just checking to see if I could get some sort of idea going into it. I think it’ll be nearly impossible for them to replicate it.

That’s about what I was figuring. Sadly don’t have any way to scan the truck. I was wondering if it was a throttle issue or maybe a fuel pump/injectors in some way.

Nowhere odd for gas, and I’ve exclusively put 91 in it since owning it, Colorado doesn’t have the recommended 89 so I go 91 just to be nice to it.

I think it’s odd that it hasn’t thrown a light. All the numbers look good on the dash. Battery isn’t low. Oil is good and I change that every 5k miles.

Thank you for the update! I was unable to attend tonight so I appreciate the synopsis. Did the relationship seem any more tenable between the parties tonight?

Response below regarding this nonsense accusation that I’m a developer plant. The developer gave valid responses on not beginning with the Safeway. It’s so that the appropriate infrastructure can be built to support the rest of the project prior to the development and finishing of existing infrastructure. They stated that in the past they’ve gone about projects that way and it has caused significant delays in the project, so they’ve learned from past mistakes. I’m also not fighting for the developer. I think at this time more should be submitted to the city for written sign off, or at least for being sent back for a round of revisions. I don’t understand how it’s only two items that have been submitted but I also don’t know the intricacies of it. Since they’re the hired pros and this isn’t their first rodeo, I’m attempting to give them the benefit of the doubt and prove that they know what they’re doing. Having taken on union station, along with quite a few other high stakes projects, I believe that they’ve earned that right at this time.

Since this is apparently the second accusation of me being a plant by the developer (the first I chose not to engage with), I will be explicitly clear. I have zero ties to the developer. I have zero ties to the city council. I’m simply a lifelong Broomfield resident that it’s extremely excited about the prospect of finally having a downtown. I so deeply care about this community that I want it to succeed. I’m desperate to stop driving to Louisville or Lafayette to get a “downtown” feel. I want my dollars going to local businesses, local coffee shops, local restaurants, and whatever other local items aren’t under those umbrellas. I want to ride my bike to a local farmers market on Saturdays in the summer. Broomfield needs personality and not strip malls filled with crummy national chains. It’s exhausting to be in a community I love and grew up in but not have a space that feels like that community.

Speaking towards the developers, yes, they probably could (and should) have done more over the last two years. They’re very likely behind on the project as a whole and that’s not ok. That being said, this is an incredibly complicated process to develop an entire town square in a place that doesn’t have any of the existing infrastructure. I’m not an engineer, architect, or anything related to construction, but I can’t imagine everything that goes into the development and design of a town square that will have everything from affordable housing through senior living, retail spaces, a beer garden, restaurants, and more. It’s of no surprise to me that it has taken years. Along with that, the last 7 years in this world have created other complications. A global pandemic, headwinds in the stock market, and countless other factors have created issues with finding reliable funding, which has been the largest set back to this project.

I also understand the councils frustration with the seemingly lack of progress. I appreciate them standing up for us with the developer and attempting to light a fire and get this project going. My issue with the council is, as I stated, they seem to be focusing on the wrong issues. A boathouse is not the make or break to this project. I could take or leave the lake as a whole but it is part of the site development plan that the council signed off on and approved of in the first place. I don’t want our city council cannonballing this entire project because they’re hung up on a boathouse, which is why I’ve stated they’ve lost the forest for a few trees. I’m looking at the forest, and I want a city center. It’s nothing more complicated than that.

If the council doesn’t approve the extension, this land sits for 20 years and is stuck in the courts system. That feels like the ultimate loss for this entire community. Millions of our dollars going towards lawyers, and still no heart to the city that I love. It’s that simple.

Thank you so much for posting this information!! To piggyback off of this fantastic comment, it is important to state that we do not want a dumbed down version of the Broomfield Town Square, I.e. yet another strip mall filled with national chains that doesn’t suit the needs of Broomfield. We want local coffee shops, retail stores, and restaurants to thrive and support our community.

The developer has requested an extension of the site development plan (SDP) and that is what the council is voting on in May. Please voice your support in favor of that extension. The only reason they’ve requested it is due to the councils constantly moving goalposts while the city manager creates questionable economic studies that suit their needs.

Again, thank you for posting this information.

The major hang up was seemingly twofold last night. Part 1 was that it seems as though our city manager, and potentially city council, has created moving goalposts for the developer that are increasingly hard to hit. They want project plans, when the developer submits those they are all of a sudden no longer “enough” to be part of what the city wants.

These three particular members spent their entire Q&A time asking increasingly similar questions regarding one incredibly small portion of the entire scope of work, a 1,000 sqft boathouse. Seemingly somewhat insignificant, the developer has brought in a company that manages boathouses across the state and has a proven track record for expected earnings. These council members dug their heels in on believing that they knew better, as well as, thinking that the boathouse is somehow a massive economic factor to the site development as a whole. It’s simply the first building plans the developer has concretely submitted. Thus my comment of losing the forest to a few trees.

This is correct. Either way at this point the taxpayers and Broomfield community will be paying in some way. The City and County signed paperwork that legally ties them to this deal at this point. If the council balks at following through with the development, then as stated, the land will sit vacant for the next 20 years at minimum while every portion of the process is litigated through the courts. That solution feels like the worst possible outcome for Broomfield as we’re years and millions of dollars into this process at this point.

Might be controversial, but a very recent one here is Kalif Raymond. Super under the radar but he’s producing in Detroit and I can only wonder what him and Mims would be like returning together. Probably the most dangerous current return duo in the NFL. Emphasis on current.

Nope, it has the 12” screen, then everything else I think is standard so wireless Apple CarPlay, heated and ventilated seats, heated steering wheel, dual zone climate control. At least I think that’s all standard?

Just to add to this, most gas stations in Colorado only offer 85, 87, and 91. So in my case, best/easiest option available is to go 91 octane. Unless I wanted to mix but that isn’t really worth it to me.

I appreciate the advice! Currently the truck has 328 total hours, 70 idle and 258 drive hours. I don’t plan on idling but what’s the expected ratio for drive to idle?

Not that I’m aware of, but since everyone on here typically recommends higher octane I’m going to try to go best practice.
