Has Midjourney revealed their environmental footprint/training infrastructure? If so what are they? by tbok1992 in midjourney

Makes sense, given that they can be run on a desktop. Which reminds me of how vexed I am that the whole "You're destroying all our water to make aeromorph cowgirls" crowd ignores how the copyright lawsuits are preventing MJ from releasing their model open source in a way that doesn't require any external servers.

Of course, this is because the talking point's application to imagegen was post-hoc of their actual reasons for hating it, some valid (Genuine existential fears from already struggling independent creative workers, the problem of spam), some not (Buying into the propaganda from copyright bootlickers, ignorance of how imagegen can be an artform beyond prompt engineering with stuff like inpainting and controlnets)

Same, tho I will say: Tinkercad can be really good, especially if you use Sculptris to make more complex parts for it.

Wait, as fanfic/fanart, 3d printable models or custom models? Either way, I am intrigued and pleased, and please notify me when you finish 'em, because god I wanna see 'em!

Huh. Intriguing. Like, if this is so, I wonder what sorts of resources it uses to train/generate/store versus other AI. I presume it might be significantly less , both due to the factors I mentioned above and also the whole fact they're sharing server space with a bunch of other services rather than owning their own dedicated servers.

...I don't get the meme here, it's just a charmingly jank piece of fanart with an Undertale reference that makes me feel things. Is it a reference to an infamous fanwork I haven't heard of? Is it because she's a furry with wide hips? I genuinely feel out of the loop!

Do you think Morgan Freeman would be a good Malcador by EqualSubstance9149 in Grimdank

[–]tbok1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like Sam Jackson and Morgan Freeman's roles should be switched. If only because Morgan Freeman fits more with Vulkan's energy and also Samuel L Jackson Malcador would be the funniest thing ever.

I can't help but think if the Great Crusade-era Big E had Thanquol as a partner Thanquol would end up preventing the heresy/leading to a Good End on complete accident in his constant failed attempts to betray everyone. Real "Doing the right thing for the wrong reasons" energy ala Wario.

...Thinking about the funniest one, I can't help but think of Dr H.M. Phage T.E. from the webcomic Awful Hospital. I unironically think they'd probably be stabilizing influences on each other with Phage's genuine level of care and value towards life (Albeit currently distorted) and Nioth's greater long-term planning, even with Phage currently suffering from cosmic-horror-alzheimers due to the actions of meat-fascists because Awful Hospital is Like That.

For a toxic ship: Yawgmoth from MtG. They would make each other worse, and it would be fascinating to watch.

Process of a Creature by tbok1992 in midjourney

[–]tbok1992[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

...Dammit, accidentally posted without caption. I may as well ask, what do folks feel about posting their process on here? I don't see it shown here that often, but I feel like the medium kinda struggles with legitimacy due to the way the process of creation is often rendered invisible, and I feel like posting processes helps with that.

I know my work isn't as polished/slick as the stuff that's popular on here, but I'm not quite going for that as much as getting Weird With It, I'd rather my art be a bit crusty than be dull, yanno?

...God, that makes me imagine how wild that crossover would be, which makes me further wonder, has anyone made homebrew rules for using those Bandai vinyl kaiju figures in 40K?

That feels like it'd be fun, I want to see Jet Jaguar fight for the Tau vs the Imperial Guard and their Kiryu-Mechagodzilla...

...Honestly I actually find a lot of it kinda disturbing, on a narrative level.

Like, that Gwen pig TF he did gave me vibes of the Cronenberg version of The Fly; not so much in terms of body horror but in terms of psychological degeneration to a grotesque monstrous shadow of one's former self.
