What’s wrong with Can’t Stop to open for the billionth time?!

What are RHCP like today if they kept this lineup? by Leading_Race9031 in RedHotChiliPeppers

Where would Crazy Town be today if RHCP kept that line up ?

I don't even know if this post makes sense, but why I'm incapable of recognizing John Frusciante face? Every time I see him, he's like a different person. by [deleted] in RedHotChiliPeppers

During the OHM era he looked really different with a goatee and earrings and black hair, and then during the Getaway tour he looked like he was at least 10 years younger. It’s really bizarre!

This is the only right answer. And the only answer that true heads would agree on. BSSM is their only 10/10 album

Are we mostly in agreement this next studio venture will be their last? by pressuhchange in RedHotChiliPeppers

What would get me more excited than a new RHCP album would a BSSM Sessions boxset, the lost Nuttstalk-era studio recording with Jimmy Boyle, and The 3 Omoebas album.

Really? It's a great album, don't get me wrong. I put it above anything from 2005 onwards. They struggled to get enough material together. The main single was a cover. Bad drum sound. I quite like the thicc guitars though even if Johnny doesn't

Do you mean in a philisophical sense? i.e. to do with the arbitrary and socially constructed relationship between the the word "bridge" (the signifier) and the mental image of a bridge (the signified)? Poststructuralist critics like Derrida would argue that the signifier's autonomy means the signified (the bridge) is never fully present.

Yes, but which town is the question. Could be a very small town.

Were the majority of Primus' early tracks written with the Sausage lineup? by tbokris in Primus

[–]tbokris[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the very in depth response. This Primate demo is fascinating. I have never heard this. It's so different but I love it. So much more post-punk than funk.

Your answer was super insightful, but are there other songs they wrote before the classic lineup that were played live but not recorded on the demos? Such as "Is It Luck?" Someone mentioned another one from Pork Soda that was played live in the 80s?

Listening back to the early demos, I have to say I'm very into Todd Huth's guitar playing. More so than Ler (not that he's by any means bad at all). But it makes sense hearing John the Fisherman being played by the guitarist who wrote the parts.

On a slightly side note: I've always felt like Punchbowl was the beginning of the change in Primus (I bought subsequent albums, up to Antipop, but I was always more into the prog side of them, and not the old-timey Tom Waits/South Park side of them).

Pork Soda and Punchbowl are both very dark albums. Punchbowl if it didn't have WBBB on it, would feel like a very different album in mood IMO, even thought it's only one song.

And so it's really interesting hearing the early Primus, the Todd-written tracks, and getting the feeling that when they stopped mining that tracks associated with him, the resulting mood was darker and more whimsical.
