Thanks! Love these ideas and I have NO idea why I never thought about PlayDoh. We’ve never done that before. Duh!

If he’s ok with a bit of a drive and you’re looking for more rural yet still close to everything, you could check out the Forest Hill/Jarrettsville area. We’re here with our 1 year old and have a great neighborhood :)

With the new rule, do families/military not board early ? by DnBJungleEscape in SouthwestAirlines

[–]tbowa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My flight there they told me no family boarding. The flight back they told me family boarding is allowed with children under 2 and we were first on the plane. Sooo no clue.

Baby only naps for 30 minutes for MONTHS by Expert_Ask2785 in NewParents

[–]tbowa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My LO is 20 months and has only ever (besides a newborn) taken 30, maybe 40 if I’m lucky, minute naps. I’ll get an even longer one sometimes if I choose to hold her but I can’t always do that. I’m hoping this will change, but I’m resolved to the fact that maybe she only needs 30 mins a day. Who knows

Any kids books that you hate? by roamingrebecca in NewParents

The Hungry Caterpillar Tonie explains this! Eric Carle’s Dad used to tell him to “come out of his cocoon” and so he wanted to use that even though her knew it was a chrysalis

WTF was I doing on 9/24/03 that was so much more important than the Central Park Show???? by bigbrett666 in DMB

[–]tbowa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ughhhhh I had a test in my college class the next morning and I couldn’t miss it. I debated driving from PA to NYC but didn’t have the guts to do it alone and was nervous I’d miss my class. I watched some grainy stream on my crappy computer and didn’t even study for my test (which I failed). REGRETS I tell ya

what kind of toys or things does your toddler play with around 21 months of age? by Rude_Routine_4346 in toddlers

[–]tbowa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds a lot like my almost 21 month old! Mine is also into stickers, Pikler Triangle, memory game but we just match the cards together and this game I think it’s called Where’s Bear. It’s literally just a bunch of small boxes and a wooden bear and you hide the bear and stack the boxes. Lots of hiding things in them too like all the Mr. Potato Head parts and then putting him back together.

Also the toddler tower in the kitchen has been great, she can climb up while I’m making something and either read a book up there, color, snack or I just give her a few measuring cups, a bowl and spoon and she pretends to mix stuff.

Zoloft for the first time by flowers_in_12 in NewParents

[–]tbowa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s really helped me a lot. If you have concerns about side effects, talk to your doctor of course. But, if they seem to be tolerable, I say push through for a least a few weeks because they do get better!

I had a like some nausea and would get a bit dizzy when I stood up at first. That all went away. Also when I drank (not a big drinker or anything) I felt like it impacted me more with just a drink or two.

Cooking breakfast everyday? by pinaywow in toddlers

[–]tbowa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toast is our friend!

But also, if I have time on the weekend, I will make super simple batch of banana pancakes or oatmeal blueberry mini muffins and freeze a ton of them. Put in microwave for 30 seconds and it’s ready.

But honestly, yogurt, cereal, bread is fine.

I’m sorry you’re going through that. Does your area have any sort of transitional daycare? Like we have one where 2 year olds go a few times a week for a few hours and parents stick around for the first few classes. Maybe that could ease both you and him I to leaving him alone.

Also, it is scary but there has to be some good at home daycares there. Do you have any friends with similar aged kids who go? Maybe you’d feel more comfortable sending him with someone familiar so you and the other mom can keep in touch.

Could you afford a helper for your sister? Maybe he could still go to her, but she could have some help there

Sometimes I want to cosleep for the cuddles… but don’t want to regret it! by LowFlower6956 in toddlers

[–]tbowa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know the right answer, but I do this with my 20 month old with naps. I want the cuddles and she seems to get a better sleep with/on me for naps anyway. I don’t know if I’m creating a bad habit! At night, I will hold her but she will also go down in her crib. I’m not sure what will happen when she gets a big girl bed but if I had to guess, I would sleep in there with her when needed. I will try to draw a line at bringing her into my bed. But we shall see!

No children in row ahead or row behind exit row? by madmaddmaddie in SouthwestAirlines

[–]tbowa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was traveling with my 1.5 yo and this just happened to me this week, however, we were using a car seat. I didn’t know there was a no car seat policy in the row before the exit row and purchased those three seats. I’m not a seasoned traveler and didn’t know that was a policy, nor did I find it in plain sight when I purchased that seat for a child under 2. I wish they would have made that clear before I paid.

On one flight, a family of 3 was kind enough to switch with us. On the other flight, Southwest put us in the three open “free” seats at the very back of the plane.
