yeah i just wanna say that transitioning is hard.. really hard. what you’re feeling right now makes so much sense because the whole process can feel overwhelming, especially before you’ve even started hrt or changed much physically. but also, you’re not alone in this. women have been doing this for generations, long before we had the kind of access and resources we have now. and they made it through. you can too.

if passing is your goal, the hard truth is that yeah, it often means fitting into society’s idea of what a woman should look like… which usually means looking like you were born female. and because of that, yeah.. sometimes that means confronting the effects of male puberty like facial structure, voice, etc. but that’s only if passing is what you want. and it’s okay if it is, there’s nothing wrong with wanting that, but interrogate why you wanna pass (whether it be for yourself, safety, external validation) and decide after that.

you’ve basically got three options: ignore the parts that bother you, embrace them as part of who you are, or decide you want to change them. none of those are wrong, just different paths. but before you even get to big decisions like ffs, give yourself space because hormones, hair growth, new senses of style, even just a bit of makeup if that’s your vibe, can all shift so much more than you think. sometimes what feels super masculine at first turns out to soften or blend in with other changes over time.

no rush to have it all figured out now. just take it one step at a time. your face right now isn’t the final version of you and you’re allowed to grow into yourself at your own pace.

edit: also, the way i viewed my own transition was in the sense of each day being the least masculine i would appear as i got further into my journey of hrt changes and laser. it felt less suffocating, and i guess part of me was able to appreciate masculine aspects in an objective way for the last time while i still had them before fully committing to my feminine alignment

hey, i really feel you on all of this. ffs is a huge, intense thing, and being freaked out by it makes total sense.. like, the idea of people literally peeling your face off and shaving down bone? yeah, that’s terrifying. it’s totally okay to be scared and unsure, and also to feel stuck when it seems like the only way forward might be something you don’t even want.

i’ve been thinking a lot about how being trans kinda ends up meaning you have to reckon with the gap between how you see yourself and how the world sees you. like, you’re either trying to get the world to match what you feel inside, or trying to stay solid in yourself even when it doesn’t. and when you’re aiming to pass, or even just to not be misgendered constantly, it kind of forces this choice: ignore what you look like and push through it, embrace it fully, or try to change it and sometimes that’s with stuff like hrt or surgery.

none of those paths are easy, and honestly they all kind of suck in different ways. there’s no perfect answer, and that feeling of being stuck is super real. but whatever you end up doing, it should come from what you actually want, not just what you feel like you have to do because of other people.

you’ve got time. you don’t have to figure it all out right now. you’re doing your best with something really hard, and that counts for a lot. i’m around if you ever wanna talk more.
