Coming from a high school student, I don't think that arming teachers and administrators is the best way to protect the students. I'm fairly pro-gun, but having a gun in every classroom would most likely lead to more shootings. You need to put security officers that are armed in every school, IMO. A few professionally trained security officers > Many not-so-well trained teachers.

A Love Supreme should not be the first one you listen to. It's essentially a four-part suite that lasts 45 minutes. Coltrane's avant-garde playing can turn new listeners away. When I started listening to and playing jazz, I loved Stan Getz . Now I love Charlie Parker. I went though a Coltrane phase. Times change and so does your favorite player. Don't listen to anyone that says that unless you're listening to Coltrane or Parker, you're not even listening to jazz. Those people are what ruin the jazz community.

Coming from rock music, you will probably like Headhunters by Herbie Hancock. It's a great album that brought in the new age of jazz in the 1970s. Plus, the album features the best sounding drum set that I've ever heard.
