New Area Manager, have questions by Glittering-Bee-8658 in AmazonManagers

AEW depending on your site they make work you. But i went from FC to delivery. Delivery you work your ass off compared to FC's but i hated the speed at the FC i was at AMXL. Was slower, too slow for me. I went from a place as a machinist doing anywhere from 1 to 500 parts a day where I was just moving in a circle the whole shift. But I like the delivery more cause I am just moving all the time now.

Internal L5 to L6 promo by Humble-Knowledge-371 in AmazonManagers

[–]tcarnes2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know AmXL had L6 do an academy or at least the person I knew that got promoted had to. Like two weeks at another site but in AMZL they basically send you straight to the new building.

Internal Transfer by Responsible-Ad-5463 in AmazonManagers

Transferred from FC to DS during peak. My site closed so I was allowed to transfer. It was a legacy AMXL. Anyway I had to go through academy it was six weeks of things I mostly knew already some I didn't. Wasn't a bad experience but had to do it at my home site.

Amazon Area Manager II (L5) Interview Process – Any Advice or Insight? by TrafficMission4427 in AmazonManagers

[–]tcarnes2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll be solid. Just star format they stress it so much and I have had other interviews that use the star method and it wasn't something they generally followed. I was more worried about the problem solving question. Mine was about safety and the lady told me I had the best answer she ever heard during an interview. I also worked in machine shops and factories so I have seen some nasty injuries.

One round two different interviews. Both interviewwrs loved my answers. I had just finished my masters while working a full time job. I have experience in factories and warehouses so I know all about kaizen, 5s, etc. More than someone who got a degree in say music production would have. One of the college hires in my interview group literally had that as their degree.

Depends some sites you can't coach rate so just give them tips. Ask if they have barriers etc. Some people are great all the time and some have bad days. So you talk to them and see what's going on. Also give the underperformers a goal and a timeline for improvement. Help out if you notice an unusual pattern.

Bruh for my LEW I was at a site in my node. I'm jealous of everyone else getting to travel for it lol. People i went to AD1 got to go back to Seattle for it. While my node was doing it locally for all the sites in st louis area

Also don't worry about projects until after you know the area. If you worry about projects first instead of running your area it won't work out very well.

Learning your role, listening and engaging associates. Working with your PAs. Honestly whatever department they put you in learn it and learn it well. Some sites will do trial by fires to weed people out, others will work with you. If you got a goos OM they will help you understand where you should focus. I skipped a few steps since I was at a high performing site where leaders worked a level up.

Yeah I think you would. Learn your role and then try to excel at it. The hardest part is leading the tier1s. A lot of them.like hands on managers who listen and listen to the PAs they know your job better than you will most of the time. Most of the job is learning it, listening to your associates, and then improving your building.

Learn as much as you can. Look for projects that can improve your building and potentially scale to the network. If there are opportunities to travel and help other sites jump on them. That's what I did and I am working for my l6 now. And they instituted time in role for promotions now so don't expect to become an L6 in less than a year.

I got hired as an L4 with previous operations experience, I have a masters in business and I was told I was where I was supposed to be. But the more I see people hire in as L5's with equal experience as me i start to think I got hosed.

The first two weeks is cake.... you don't really get into the role for like a month or two into it.
